They were both stationary when I got there. The other side of the Audi totally destroyed. Driver was out looking puzzled talking to the Police.

Unless that wagon is somehow exiting around the 1 o'clock position, he isn't going to get round there in one bite.

Edit- I reckon the Audi was at 90 degrees to the trailer on impact. I don't think it squeezed up the o/s and into a closing wedge.

Well my assumption is that the Audi went to go round the inside of a small roundabout whilst a huge lorry was trying to take the roundabout too... and the Audi ran out of room when the lorry began to turn! I always hang back on roundabouts whenever HGV's are on them too as they often do squeeze across lanes!

5 years ago I was going round a roundabout in my Z4 and a Comet delivery truck was in the lane next to me when he moved into my lane and clipped the left rear arch.

His fault in my book since I didn't drift from my lane and was slightly ahead of him. He denied responsibility and the insurers went 50/50.

I told him at the scene I hope he loses his job as he shouldn't be driving. Then Comet went in to Administration.

I can give HGVs a break in these situations - they aren't going to straightline roundabouts due to incompetence

Wish they'd ban them around Mottram at (non)rush hour though

To be fair it's pretty obvious that a lorry negotiating a roundabout isn't going to be able to take the same tight lines as a car, therefore if you try and nip up the inside or outside of one in that situation, you're a bit dim.

Exactly this. Just this morning I came into a 2 lane roundabout, me going right in 2, lorry going straight on in 1. There was plenty of room but I stayed behind the lorry, he didn't come into my lane as it happens, but got me thinking. It's the sensible thing to do. Most car drivers straight line roundabouts anyway.
Come to think of it, last night I had someone come halfway into my lane as we exited when he was in the inside lane, not trying to cut a corner but just thick. Saw it coming . These days no one can do roundabouts and lanes, that's like thinking about where you want to be and how you're going to get there at the same time.
As with all interactions with other people it's best to assume the worst.
