What car - Impreza STi, Evo 8 or Toyota Supra
Discussion
Ive asked a similar question in the jap forum on the supra but my choices have widened now.
Current own a Focus ST at the moment with around 320bhp and i want some thing a bit more special.
Hit 25 soon, no commitments, no boot space/5 seats needed, budget 8-10k,mpg not really bothered as long its not under 15 average, used as a daily
All these cars will be tuned at some point as i like to make the car my own, mostly power and handling
Ive narrowed it down to 4-5 cars and just wanted some opinions on my choices
Blobeye Widetrack STi - cheapest to buy, love the boxer sound, cheap to add power
Evo 8 FQ 300 - top of my budget for a decent one, service intervals put me off, suprisingly cheap to insure, better than the impreza in most ways (going by reviews)
Mk4 Supra TT - can get on classic insurance, been my dream car since my childhood, easy to add power to, age puts me off
E90 335i - something a bit more grown up, sleep looks, running costs generally high,
These points are going on what ive researched but hopefully you lot can help me decide. Will test drive them all at somepoint before the purchase.
Thanks

It was my top choice but the age puts me off, really need a go in one before i make up my mind
Thats the key, you'e chosen two similar cars and one very different car, best to go get out and test a few.I'd go for an Impreza, but them i'm biased

Give them a test drive and see what you fancy the most.
I expect the Supra would feel the most special to drive, especially if you've always fancied one. The Evo will be the best handling, the quickest on like-for-like power, and probably the easiest to tune (you'd struggle to find an 8 that hasn't already been tuned to some degree). The STi's probably the most reliable (kept standard) and comfortable to drive day-to-day, and feels more planted compared to the Evo's more agile handling.
It's all about what you prefer. But we can tell you don't really want the BMW.

Supra's are a daft easy to tune too - 400hp is basic modding on the 3.0l lump.
I still remember getting passed by one coming out of a show a few years ago and the way it picked off a line of traffic plus the noise it was making was bonkers.
That must have had some proper money spent though because while a 400hp one will be quick, that looked absurd to my eye...

Not driven a Supra, so no idea on that.
However, I Have driven an FQ300 Evo 8. It was pretty boring mate. test drive one before you buy, but for me, it was a case of never met your heroes. Felt slow, and unexciting. It went round corners like nothing else, but if anything, it seemed too competent.
I prefer the less linear power delivery of the Impreza. No it's not going to be as fast, but it's much more exciting.
Like for like, I don't think there is much in it, but they both have their own characteristics, which you'll either love or hate

This is exactly what i felt when i finally drove a evo 7 ,although i didnt attack a corner fast just the A38 in a line . However, I Have driven an FQ300 Evo 8. Out of the 3 id suggest a curve ball .
Some kind of force induction s2000 , its low weight and with 300bhp + it will feel and sound very fast indeed .

Impreza lovely noise but common as muck and Evo drivers will always look smug.
Supra, rare, beautiful, powerful, iconic.
There is your answer.

I prefer the Lancer Evolution in most iterations, but the noise of an Impreza is enough to flout any smugness from an Evo driver.pilchard8 said:
Looks like my choice is a supra, it wont be modified badly, bpu upgrade, a few visual bits, maybe different wheels. Just need a test drive now or a passenger ride
Modified well, as in the black one above, they look amazing. Just stay away from anything veil side. I went to look at a supra but got convinced by the wife to buy an Evo instead. Regretted it ever since. The Supra may be 20 years old but they still look amazing and turn my head every time I see one.
