How long until you got your dream car or a great car?
Discussion
As a new driver years ago the Opel Superboss was the car to have. I had a 1.6monza gsi which was great but. It was never a superboss.
Next dream car was the r34 skyline and now they aren't dropping in price but are climbing in maintenance costs, rust etc so that's not an economical choice anymore. Also, modern regular cars offer similar power figures as the ageing Godzilla.
My dream car of today is a vxr8. Bloody love the sound and look of these! Insurance isn't too bad but now I'm a little older it's life that's stopping me.
Getting married next year and then kids. By the time I can realistically afford such pleasures, I'll be onto another dream car that's outta my budget. :/
I hate this game sometimes!
On a plus side, I have my dream bike and 2 years later it still ticks all the boxes and gets loads of looks!
I'd sell both my balls for a vxr8 and on the plus side of that is I can't have kids so more cash for fuel

22 (now 23) when i brought my 265 Trophy (06/50).
Some may disagree (each to their own), but being pretty rare and one of the best hot hatches out there, id consider it a great car.
In terms of dream cars though..time will tell I guess. Would love a GTR, although the ambition is to own a lambo...Gallardo Super Trofeo if i had to pick one.

Got my S13 200SX in my second year of driving. Always wanted one since my dad had one when I was a kid, just a shame mine turned into a money pit. 20+ years is plenty of time for various modes of rot to get started!
Aside from that I just have an R32 GTR and some form of WRX STI on the list.. Came close to buying an STI last year but chickened out; maybe next year.

When I was 17 or so, I wanted a Fiat X1/9. Was totally chuffed when I bought one at 26. Inevitably, it was not rust/trouble-free and a bit of a lesson: don't wear rose-tinted glasses when buying a car.
When I saw the NSX I had to have one. Took me so long - 23 years - that I had to buy two to make up for it.
I've wanted a RR Camargue since I first saw it in the 'new car' section of my Dad's Popular Mechanics magazine... 1975? Still waiting on that.

I haven't really owned any good/great cars, I did buy a nearly new Nissan 200sx S14a.
It was a total bag of st.
Another example of how we are all different because my old 200sx S14a is still my favourite of all the cars I have owned and I loved it to bits, a little steady standard I will admit but once lightly tuned it just transforms them. It was a total bag of st.
Okay good excuse for uploading photo:
I remember standing at the motor show launch of the Ferrari 360 in 1999, typical Ferrari really, couldn't get near the stand and certainly couldn't get onto the stand but stood there for ages drooling.
Finally managed to realise my dream 6 years ago - I was 36 at the time, can't imagine myself selling it.
I've always dreams of owning a Ferrari, I guess it all started with Magnum and his 308 then heavily influenced by Miami Vice. I never had the poster on the wall though, the bedroom wall poster was a white Lamborghini - no chance I'm afraid with rising prices of owning one of those now.
Thankfully owning and driving my dream has actually been a pleasure, still puts a smile across my face every time I open the garage door - even more so recently as I just fitted a sports exhaust.

It was a highly modified Mk3 Fiesta when I was 19. I'd lusted after an XR2i but the insurance and actual cost of one was prohibitive, so I taught myself the inner workings of cars and built my own performance model. In the end of course it did cost a lot more than a regular model but the specification and performance was far greater. I don't think anything else will top that as a 'dream car' as it meant so much to me at the time.
Other highlights were my first M3 (26) and the F430 (33), but neither of those were really dream cars - just cars I chose at a point in time based on my current budget.
