Homosexuals; Big cars & lifestyle plates
Discussion
Is this a thing/scene?
Yesterday I saw an orange Audi Q7 with a very flamboyant looking driver and a numberplate mis-represented to hint at the word 'Sissy'
It made me remember that a couple of days ago I saw a BMW X3 with homosexual references in the numberplate subtext/makers stamp (adenoids voice: clearly failing to meet BS approval), accompanied by lots of XX's in the plate itself.
I try top keep up to date with all the latest automotive fads but fear this one may have passed me by.
Note to the professionally offended: This is a genuine question & there is no homophobic subtext.

Shame that what is clearly a legitimate, inoffensive question/ topic requires an 'Im no homophobe' disclaimer.
Can't say I've ever seen an example of this. Like to think I'm pretty observant of/ interested in spotting such motoring subcultures, so slightly disappointed that I've never encountered any of these...
Perhaps too much is being read into the private number plates, no matter how 'fruity' the car may seem? Or maybe I have a rubbish gaydar.

It doesn't. Unless the OP is homophobic. Or gay but hasn't come out yet. I don't understand why someone would pay particular attention to someone else because of their sexual orientation. But the binary anti-PC warnings are so tiring...even worse than PC itself.nickfrog said:

Whether or not the disclaimer is actually 'required' is absolutely open to debate nickfrog.I can understand why OP felt it may be necessary when talking about the 'homosexual subtext' of the numberplate- edgy stuff to people who watch eg. The One Show.
Perhaps I've misunderestimated (credit: George W. Bush, November 6th 2000) PHers here, so apologies to all the like-minded, non-professionally-offended forum frequenters out there if I have sold you short.
I personally share Stewart Lee's view on PC, which is that it's a very good thing indeed. I also share Stewart Lee's view that it's very tedious having to carefully qualify a lot of what you say so that you won't be wilfully misinterpreted/ misrepresented by SJWs/ the easily offended.
As with all groups of people, you get a variety of stereotypes and individuals within it. I'm gay and find myself eye-rolling at some of the more extravagant personalities I've met, but each to their own. I've got a personal plate which is three 6's and my initials. Currently on an SLK which is affectionately known as an "SL-GAY" by friends, so make of that what you will. Most of the guys I know just have their initials as a private plate, if they have one. You've got to be fairly confident to broadcast being gay on your car considering the looks you sometimes get just holding your partner's hand or being overly affectionate in public.
