Talk to me about my sidewall
Discussion
Ooh err missus etc. My 6 month old leased Fiesta has got a fair chunk of damage on the sidewall.
Found it during a weekly poke around and can't for the life of me figure out how I did this - if I whacked it up a sharp kerb or if there was just some debris that cut it.
In any case it is what it is - it has a cut and having not been in this position before I'm fairly sure I'm going to need to bite the bullet and replace it. Is there any alternative at all or is this why it makes sense for rarer/more expensive boots to get a bit of cheap tyre cover?
Bloody gutted it's going to cost almost the same as a monthly payment to get sorted but wanted to run it past the PH masses before pricing it up in case I'm missing something.

Looks like it's hit something. Something to look out for near Terraced houses is where the guttering from the houses is drained into a channel in the pavement and enters the gutter via an access, which is usually a gap in the kerb stone, covered by a metal plate. get too close when parking and bang goes a sidewall, if you're lucky .if not it can severely damage an alloy.
Just this week had the same myself (a 3"x3" wooden table leg with a couple of three inch nails poking out from one end left in the carriageway), just clipped it. Pulled over took a quick look no apparent damage. Lunch time took my lunch box back to the car and had a poke around underneath (oil leak after it had its service :grrr and notice the tyre was flat as a fart. I could kiss the original buyer for speccing the space saver.
After swapping them over took a quick look and a small wedge had been sliced into it. It's a side wall, I drive quite hard (some fast sharp corners) so even a slight nick in the side wall is a no no, that and the Alfa's 19" alloys are quite a high PSI (39 front, 36 rear).

Doesn't the highway code say your tyres should be free of rips, tears etc? It Doesn't say lower pros with built in manufacturers rim protector are okay dokey if you cant see cord or beading.
I work on the basis is your life or that of your love ones worth £130-150 for the sake of changing it get a budget tyre if contis are a bit steep.
