RHD Ford Mustang Spotted
Discussion
Hello,
I don't post much on here as I enjoy reading the topics more.
But I'd thought I would share my crappy photos of my first spot of the 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 and it was RHD!
I have to say it looks stunning on the road, I think the driver was a salesman as he wasn't giving it any kick.
Spotted in Loughborough on my way home, I assume he came from the Ford dealers in Loughborough and
driving it to another. Loughborough is the perfect place to show off the new Mustang as they are quite a few
muscle car owners around here.
Has anybody else seen one in RHD?

Good to see you have your priorities right.
He is right about the rear lights, compared to the US ones they look like a naff afterthought, it’s almost like they said "bugger we forgot about the rear lights, the limeys daft laws means we can't have them like the ours", "just bung clear lenses on the back and stick amber bulbs in em, it'll be fine".Clear rear lights belong on a Lexus and...well that’s it. The lights wouldn't put me off buying one but if I were ever in the position to do so the first thing I'd be doing would be ordering some super bright LED bulbs in the appropriate colours and a set of US rear lights.
The GT badge is a homage to the original car which had its fuel filter cap there, the 2005-2009 models had a "medallion" on the back with a GT badge in the middle (Tri Bar for a V6 or a snake if it was a Shelby). It would look better if it weren't excessively highlighted by the clear rear lights.
I popped into the local Ford dealer when they had a black convertible and a red hardtop in (both GT models) a couple of weeks ago, they seem nicely screwed together, I didn’t ask for a test drive as I wasn’t thinking about buying one. The £23k I’d need to trade my 2006 model for one is a bit much for me really given I can buy the 2014 Boss 302 engine and put it in my car (it bolts straight in) for just over half that.
I saw a white one at the Lakeside Ikea the weekend before last. I thought it looked great and made me wish I had ordered one instead of spending the money on the house. My wife is very much not into cars, but she quite likes Camaros and Mustangs, so perhaps it is something I can pull off in the future.
Seen loads. Was in a Ford dealer at the tail end of 2015, he had about 5 on the forecourt, all on 65 plates.
Talking to him, he said about 80% of their orders were V8. He agreed with me about the Ecoboost/Auto combo not being a great drive normally, he thought it needed an 8 speed box, personally I think they just need to alter the electronics to keep the revs above about 1700 in normal driving. (I've driven the current model in the US, never a UK spec car)

I've driven the V8 manual, comfort pack.
Great torque, nicely sprung ride and a serious turn of speed! Steering, is quite light but can be adjusted via the drive selector. Putting it in sport mode gives a slightly heavier steering weighting.
Nice clutch action and awesome short throw gearbox. Slightly notchy change but pleasingly quickly.
The only thing I'm not keen on are the brakes....over servo'd in my opinion and too sensitive. I'm sure they will get better over time though.
In summary - £36k for a v8 manual with all the kit you'll ever need. It's performance/GT bargain.

Tax is €2,350 PER YEAR on a V8 in Ireland.
€720ish a year on an Econoost.

Doesn't really count, as I saw my first RHD Mustang at the Autosport show at the weekend.
Echoing the above, I was pleasantly surprised with how sensibly sized it looked, and really liked the well balanced blend of modern and retro touches.
Whilst a V8 seems like the most appropriate engine for the car, I can't help thinking that the 2.3 Ecoboost would be the one to have ...... There will be loads of RS tuners about releasing big power, and the lighter engine might make it a sweeter handler.
