so I've just lost my back bumper...
Discussion
For F*cks sake. It has just absolutely chucked it down in Manchester whilst driving to work. Traffic was horrendous and parts of the road flooded so everyone was obviously being cautious but I had some prize bell end in a range sport tidal wave past me at which point the bmw behind me kept flashing his lights at me. I dismissed it and just got to work to find my entire back bumper missing.
I've got my brother out looking for the bumper on my commute, but can I drive the car without a back bumper until I either, find my bumper or find a replacement?
The car is (brace yourselves) Vauxhall Astra VX-line SRI.
Anybody know of anyone breaking one of these? It is a "61" plate who has a cheap rear bumper?

How the hell can a car splashing water cause a bumper to come off?
I have absolutely no idea. I don't even know if that was the time it came off. It was on when I left home, got flashed after I got sprayed and nothing the rest of the way to work, found out when I got to work.Jimmy Recard said:

A great amount of water is displaced, rushing under the car and building against the bumper. The forward motion of the car increases this force and the bumper no longer remains attached.WolfAir said:

It's a Vauxhall in Manchester are you sure someone didn't just nick it and you didn't notice when you got in?I've got my brother out looking for the bumper on my commute, but can I drive the car without a back bumper until I either, find my bumper or find a replacement?

haha funny guy. Did make me laugh, but no. Mind, I am definitely sure it was on when I left home...Mr GrimNasty said:
Maybe my tiny screen, but possible evidence of previous rear end damage?
Yes car was CAT D repaired, obviously not as good a repair as i thought seeing as I no longer have a rear bumperGuinnessMK said:
I'd be happy enough driving that around with a number plate cable tied on, until I could source a new bumper.
If I was parking on street at night for any length of time, I'd get some stick on reflectors as an interim measure.
Yes but I lost the rear number plate along with the bumper . As long as I can get it home, itl go on the driveway until I can sort a repair out.If I was parking on street at night for any length of time, I'd get some stick on reflectors as an interim measure.

Man, this is a funny post. But I think in all honesty something was not right with the bumper in the first place, this is not normal.
I think assumptions can be made of a not so secure rear bumper fix...The worst thing is, my brother followed my commute and says there was nothing in the road or by the side. Who would take a random bumper on the side of the road? Given it was chucking it down at the time, but still.
