Struggling to get excited by new cars and been looking for a while. M4, S5, 718 Cayman, etc. Been trying them all.
Are cars getting like sports stars no personality no character!?
Turbos are the problem. Are cars getting like sports stars no personality no character!?
Drive a 981 Porsche or an e 90 92 M3 and all will become clear.
Good investment too.

Nothing wrong with the above cars, all very quick and capable. The problem is, to get any feedback from them you need to be traveling at an indecent speed.......not ideal on the public highway. Are cars getting like sports stars no personality no character!?
Get yourself a Toyota GT86 whether you love it or not, it's got character and it's current....!
Characters usually have some vulnerability. Modern performance cars are too accomplished, efficient, reliable, quiet, comfortable!
The German cars you mention are an example of this dull point and click motoring.
That why modern classics of the recent era are being viewed as the pinnacle of motoring. Hence prices are increasing for previous M cars, 911's TVR's, Ferrari's and the like.

Cars are slowly tailing off in terms of pure enjoyability. The peak for me was the 80s/90s. There's lot of stuff from back then I'd like to own.
Even the bread and butter cars had more poise and appeal. I've been driving loads of different hire cars recently and they all seem to have the same rubbery gearchange and ride.
