1st Central Car Insurance - anyone used them?
Discussion
Hi All,
Before I take the plunge; looking to get a quick take on 1st Central Car insurance, what is the general consensus? Good? Bad?
They are showing to be the cheapest for me at renewal but I don't want the cheapest if its a sub par product
More than are next being 100 pounds more
Privlidge & hastings are after that being a further 100 more
Thanks

Been with them for 2 years they negotiated the second year and gave me the comparison price rather than their renewal quote
I find them super easy to deal with, you can deal with them entirely online if you want, but they do have a call center should you need it.
I've not claimed yet, but assume they will be ok.

They get mixed reviews on Trust Pilot, seems they are either very good or very bad.
Yes they do but when I checked compared to the other companies I have quotes from they seem to be better. I always had more than as a good company but they are "poor" on trustpilot and other websites. I tend to take reviews with a pinch of salt too so wanted to come here and see what peoples thoughts are
I used them for a few years in a row, I found their renewals price was lower than what I could get with them via the comparison sites, and found their renewal was lower than the previous year.
The only time I contacted them was when someone went in to the back of my car and they referred me to the 3rd party's insurer. Effectively taking them out of the loop.
The only reason I'm not with them this year was that Tesco was offering a better price ....

People saying the renewal process being poor, can I ask what exactly was part of the poor experience. At the moment any policy I have had has been automated?
I can't remember the ins and outs now, but basically they didn't send me a renewal. So I tried to contact them and couldn't.No option to renew online, phones & emails not answered etc. etc. And never did manage to get proof of NCB out of them.
If they were that much agro over a renewal, what would they be like with a claim?
They might be better now but I wouldn't touch them again.

From experience, don't go with Hastings.
They're called Hastings because getting money out of them will be a battle. thebigmacmoomin said:
