Are all Audi dealers unhelpful?
Discussion
My daughter, a primary school teacher, and her partner went to look at a new A1 at the weekend. He drives an RS3, looking to change that for an A8, but thats by the by.
They looked at the cars, and went and asked the receptionist if there was a salesman present to assist, she went into the glass fronted office where 4 of them were stood talking. They glanced across, and carried on talking for another 20 minutes, while they looked further at the A1 and A8.
Not one of them ventured out of the office to try and take their money off them £90,000 or so for the 2 cars, not one.
This reminds me of when I went into the same dealers, a few years ago to look at an A4, same reception, no one cared, or could be bothered, so I bought a new V40 instead.

The couple I’ve ventured into on spec over the years have been equally bad. The wife has an Allroad on PCH at the moment (good car by the way). Found the deal on whatcar via Huddersfield Audi who, I have to say, were absolutely excellent. Maybe that’s just how they all do their business now. Cheap lease deals over the internet. Got to be easier than dealing with people who think their car is worth £20K when it’s more like 15.

never understand threads like this. Its such a sense of entitlement.
Firstly you got no idea what they were talking about, could have been an issue that had to be dealt with.
Also why not just ask again "excuse me! I have been waiting 20 minutes it would be nice to get some assistance to buy a car"
or go to another dealer. People are not mind readers, some people come on here moaning they come up to you way to fast and some moan they don't come quick enough.
a wild idea would be to communicate your feelings with them

I'm not saying it's great form from the sales people, but it could have been something urgent. A quick nudge to the receptionist may have all that was needed to get somebody to tend to them.
No doubt they bought the cars from a different dealer and then did doughnuts in the car park of the original Audi dealership?

Thank god for car leasing so I don't have to bother with car 'sales' men any more.
Can be quite liberating in the right circumstances can’t it. No lowballing on the part ex, haggling over discounts etc. I genuinely think it’s the Audi (and others) business model now. They know the chances of striking a deal with someone wandering in and having a browse are so low, they are better off processing the 10 lease deals that have just landed in their inbox in the meantime. OP - shame you were treated this way, clearly not hungry for sales, probably done their quota. My local dealer is the total opposite, constantly going the extra mile for me, however I have purchased many cars from them over the years and built a great relationship. So in answer to you question, no..
If it really bothers you, drop the GM a line and tell them of your experience..

I really don’t understand why people don’t go and stand by the reception until a sales person rocks up, keep asking until they do. You’ve taken the time and effort to go there why not make it very clear you want to speak to someone. Personally I like being able to walk around the show room without being jumped on.
I went to a car dealership last week. nissan in fact, main dealer. so not dodgy dave's portakabin on an estate.
The salesman had black teeth from I assume many years of fags.
who the hell employs someone like that to be the smiling face of direct customer facing roles ?
I agree with the OP though, I remember going into a dealership- it was too much for the salesmen to shift themselves from stuffing their big fat faces to come and talk to me. it was like watching seals basking on a rock- albeit fat white men cramming bacon sandwiches down their gullets.
and here's poor me, lots of cash in hand ready to buy a car. I don't need finance, I'm not browsing: I'm here to buy a car.

They MAY indeed have been talking about something important, or that needed immediate attention, but body language suggested otherwise, it was 4 chaps shooting the breeze, and apart from a cursory glance across, when first asked by the receptionist, they made no effort to finish their conversation, and attend to two potential customers.
As you say, maybe they have hit their targets, and have little interest in signing at least one of the two up for a new car.
I do know in my business if I offered the same level of interest and commitment to potential customers, my tenure would be short lived.

My mother in law was looking a while back and she said she was after something that could accommodate her dogs, salesman expressed disbelief that she would want to sully a new Audi with messy dogs, she bought a Golf Estate.
A mate of mine wanted an S3, we worked near the one in Old Trafford and wandered over at lunch, we were treated like we were something they had stepped in despite being dressed for work and had Police ID cards on, he bought an S3 from an independent.
maybe you need to be their kind of ahole ?
