Best way to secure a van from being stolen?
Discussion
Just had a special door step visit from my local family. They had great things to say about my van but unfortunately for them it is not for sale. Good reason to suspect they'll be back to try at a different time.
Parked on a driveway, any recommendations on how to secure it besides the obvious (taking the wheels off) right PITA as I need it as my daily driver. Most of the wheel locks look like cheap crap that comes off in 3 minutes with a grinder. Trackers are quite dear and I doubt they'd give it back lightly.

I think you should move house!
I used to use the old Stoplock (or whatever it was called) over the steering wheel. Simple and effective.
Another thing I had in a van was a ski lock, a kind of clamp with a cable and lock. The clamp went on the gear lever. I then put it in reverse gear and secured the cable to the seat frame so there was no way you could get it out of reverse.
I think there's only so much you can do, as they say, it they really want it they'll get it.

Do yo think it might have been code? Maybe for some loveable scamps who aren't allowed at Pontins?
Ah, got you. I must admit, I’m intrigued to know more about the visit and how it went down.In that case, have you thought of wiring your van’s door handles to the mains? Obviously don’t forget you’ve done this when you go out to use it in the morning...
Blocking it in / a bollard is probably the best as some kind of damage would be caused by people trying to get it before realizing it won't start.
I had a Peugeot Partner work van and that seemed to have the door handles popped off it pretty much every time I parked it, was a right hassle getting it repaired over and over.

Use google translate as I have no idea what this is called in English but they are pretty much impossible to bypass. We had one installed on a car years ago and they are really popular in the former communist countries where car theft is rife. It basically locks the vehicle into 5th gear or (p in the case of automatics)
A company called Gerda also make the same product. They must be available in the uk somewhere and are discrete too.
