My son is about to enter the world of driving as such I have been attempting to get him so insurance for his 1.0L corsa.
Attempt is the operative word here as the quotes coming back for a 17 year old seem to start at £5500.00 upwards.
Can anybody suggest any insurance for 1st time drivers as £5500. for a stty corsa is taking the piss a little.

Thanks for the replies, what would be a good car for him to start with because the Corsa can go if its cheapr to insure something else.

I've just done a quote and it's still below £2000 for me if I pretend I'm 17 (1.4 206).

5k miles per annum, both parents named drivers, car kept on drive at night, full time education, £500 excess, no modifications etc.
Just tried that and the cheapest was £6800, thats with his zero no claims, me and the mrs as named driver, parked on the drive in post code BD22 ( rural area of Bradistan)

Anyway I can get my van on any driver with him named for £2500, looks like the way forward, at least I can sleep while he drives us to site.
