Had to leave the house early this morning but discovered that my battery was dead (left the internal light on last night). No probs thinks I, a quick jump start will sort that out. Cars connected and both running so everything looks fine.

What with it being 5am and me being a bit bleary eyed I dispensed the usual disconnect one cable then another procedure and foolishly disconnected both from the donor car first.

The rest, as you probably already know is inevitable, +ive and -ive ends momentarily touch. Car alarm goes crazy and P & J now dead.

Had to leave sharpish to catch a train but not looking forward to getting it sorted. No idea of what damage is - Im more annoyed that there is no-one to blame but myself!

Also gutted as i will have to call out a mechanic/auto electrician to sort it out. Don't mind payng for expertise but not when it's as a result of my own stupidity!

Did try to jump start it again but all that happened was the alarm started makign all sorts of strange noises. It has an after market cat 1 clifford system on it. Im thinking that it may have fried something related to that.

Good call with trying a new battery. Worth a go.

Many thanks for the advice so far!

Cheers for the advice.

Sadly, I am old enough to know better! Jump started many cars in the past just happened to cock this one up!

Update - good news. Checked all the fuses and they were fine so installed a new battery and it started first time - phew, panic over!

Cheers for the help, pistonheads collective intelligence works once again!
