I have upto £6000 burning a hole, I would prefer one of the 3 Germans if possible.

I only do about 5,000 miles a year and 4000 of those would be motorway, so really i shouldn't push it to anything near breaking point haha.

I thought about something like a 2003 E class, but i hear Mercedes in general were awful up til about 2006.

Anything else worth looking at? no more than say 90k miles, as reliable as possible although the 3 Germans never seem to be!

I have an e39 528i sport so I obviously won't be looking at them.

Volvo interior bore the hell out of me, As would Audi A3 and A4.

2003 Merc E class interiors look ahead of their time, as did the A8's.

The LS is a little old looking. the 05> GS however looks nice, but slightly above my budget. This is frustrating.

Whats wrong with the XJ (guessing from your usename)

A 2003> XJ6 would be nice, if it didn't suffer from corrosion!

I don't know really, with regards to BM, Merc and AUdi

I like Jags but just dont associate them with reliablity. As said above, at a car around 2003, 80k on the clock and for £6k, reliability is surely the most important thing.

Does the fact i do only 5000 miles a year not give me a better chance of avoiding major issues?

There shouldn't be corrosion issues with an X350, as it's mostly aluminium.

Your budget would get a fully loaded 4.2 V8, which would be lovely, and possibly an 'R' too.

If mpg is an issue, the 3.0ltr V6 is an option.

Voila:

That 3.0 one is stunning, and for under £6k.

Maybe my mind has been made up. Sat Nav is a very handy extra i would like as well. Cheers matey.

That interior is actually nice in white.. The 4.4 is less economical than many supercars!

Its between:

Merc E270/320
Jag XJ6

Need more choice frown

Bit old looking for me, and having had the same era 5 series, it would be like being in the same cabin...

Settled on a XJ6 >2003 Providing it has Sat nav, white leather and the large 5 spoke (like star) alloys.

Ill be made up with one of those.
