This morning I happened to notice a ~2009/10 Focus ST on a Q plate, what could be the reason for this?

Anyone else seen a 'normal' car on a Q?

Wow, seems I've opened a bit of a can of worms with this one!

Done a bit of googling and according to the DVLA website, those that have said about not being able to trace it's identity are right, it's not to do with being damaged.

Also, it is not possible to buy a private "Q" plate, and cars reqistered with a "Q" are not eligible for a reg transfer , unless proof of identity turns up, in which case they can be registered with an age related plate.

If it happened to be a blue ST in the Worthing area it may well be a friend of mine. His is on a Q plate as he brought in back with him from Australia. (The car is branded as an XR5.
Blue St, check.
Worthing area, check.

Small world! Confusion solved!
