Inspired by the "what car have you been obsessing about" thread...

How do people talk themselves into it? How long do you let yourself "mull it over"?

My current "want" is a W126 S Class Merc...

Now i certainly don't need one...i've got my Chim and work van plus access to another 3 cars which i am insured to drive....

However i still feel i need one on the drive!

Now normally i give my automotive wanting about a week and if i'm still thinking about said chariot the chances are i'll proceed.

The "practical" boxes are ticked...cheap insurance, yep, somewhere for it to live, yep, spannerable, yep.

The practical excuse i've come up with for the Merc is that i can use it as a replacement for the Tiv when the weathers poo (yes....i know i've got another 4 cars i COULD use....)

And also it can't be a bad way to invest a few quid surely? a nice old Merc? well....an old Merc...

Anyway how do other PHer's justify cars they don't need?
