For 40 grand you could get

1 A slab of brand new VAG excitement such as a hot golf or an Audi S1

2 A lump of brand new diesel dullness from the king of RWD and fake engine noises BMW

3 Or you could be odd and buy a brand new panda

with change for a wee brand new toy

4 or you could take a brave pill and buy a secondhand supercar

Editted to add if you are going for the supercar it has to be about 10 years old and a proper supercar not a footballer mobile

So where would you put your 40grand assuming it was your only car/cars

To have £40k to spend on a car I'd guess a mortgage would already be paid off?
With that in mind i'd probably say Nissan GTR.

Btw this thread comes up every week and you will get people talking about mortgages hehe
The Nissian isn't allowed as its a nearly new not quite a supercar

Its my thread and i can make the rules up

Why?

If I had 40k in the bank and 40k left on my mortgage, I'd have an Aston Martin in the garage...... In fact it's a constant discussion I have with a friend who has more than enough money to have a DB9 Volante and lots left over in the bank, I can't understand why he doesn't buy one!
He has no desire to look like a footballer?

but the golf is a fixed monthly, the depreciation just happens in the background, getting a 5k bill for a new clutch would kill me as i would still be paying the same monthly payment, and i doubt any of these cars would take the millage or the time i do trouble free and it would hammer there residuals

also i cant get my family in any of them i need 5 doors a decent boot, and i certainly dont want to sit in traffic with a manual
your mental

you could have a brand new kia optima and a brand new caterham 7 for your 40 grand
