Bargeonomics : What counts?

I'm sitting here idly browsing eBay for suitable barges to scratch a certain itch. But what would you actually classify as a barge?

Obviously the usual mercs, but what about a C class? A passat? Rover 600 / 800 / 75?

Where is the family saloon / barge line drawn?
