A car like this for under £30K - talk about depreciation.

I've always been one for looking at cars that still look current (at least to a non petrol head) or that carry prestige for little money.
Okay the CGT linked above isn't cheap - but what were they brand new? £120K - £150K.
Put a private plate on that and many would think you were driving a car with a six figure value.

They are just expensive whales these days though - big powerful cars are ten a penny, and people who can actually afford to run them tend to buy new cars anyway - not used millstones.
Can you actually picture running one properly?
Well I couldn't. Pricing things up I could run a Turbo R as a classic/weekend vehicle but not as an everyday run-a-round. Can you actually picture running one properly?

It's probably already been said, but I find this more appealing than the footballer cast-off pictured at the beginning.

Very nice indeed. Though I'm not struck on the colour - green has never appealed to me. Bentley Mulsanne 4dr Saloon 6.8

Regarding the car in my OP if I had £30K to spend on a car and running costs were not a problem it would be on my list, though I would probably end up buying something like this as a weekend toy:

Only amongst those who judge cars by such things. ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
I don't really understand this "image" related business. ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
I know a couple of people who drive Range Rover Sports - I drove one of them myself. Very nice vehicles.
They are not chavs, both of them are in the farming/haulage industry and wanted a nice 4X4 - so that's what they bought.
I drive a Jag XJ8 which many claim to be an old mans motor, but it's a car that I could afford and a car that I wanted, so I bought it and enjoy driving it. I really don't care if people think Arthur Daley should be behind the wheel.

Even better... but I'd be worried if it were that sort of money. For £4500 for the older one you can't really go too far wrong. I've been wondering about getting something a little more classic as a family saloon for quite some time. The Rover P5 coupe appeals. As does some sort of old Rolls. Classic as in 'no road tax' - i.e. proper old!
Plus cheap classic car insurance. The late 80's early 90's Bentley do appeal to me.

Jeez - forgot quite how badly they got the styling wrong on those...
saw one in the metal the other day - looked like an oversize Hyundai Sonata...
For that sort of money (as in new) I'd prefer a Rolls Royce Phantom. saw one in the metal the other day - looked like an oversize Hyundai Sonata...
I'm sure the Maybach was a well built car but I prefer the S Class Merc.
