Just going for a drive........
Discussion
I live in East Sussex.
Today I was REALLY bored. No kids this weekend. Popped into town to get some beers ready to settle in for a boring evening.
F*** it. Filled the 155 up and went for a drive.
To Norfolk and back.
En route to Norwich on a job we were doing up there last summer I got diverted off the A11 due to an 'accident' and discovered possibly the best ever collection of perfect roads. Sadly, I was in a van so couldn't explore it to it's full ability.
So today, I did. Possibly the best 400 miles I've done in that car. Happy.

I like impromptu drives like that
Although Norfolk? Too flat
ahem, silverstone is flat too. As is Thruxton/Snetterton etc.Although Norfolk? Too flat
Flat is 'sort' of truthful. Some good undulations, albeit not of good gradient but you can see for MILES as the old carrot crunchers' crops aren't too high above the ground at the mo.

But he does have a point. Check OP's post history...
Oooooh. Another. So, going back a few years when PH was actually about people that enjoyed driving and didn't give a toss about MPG, going for a drive was a GOOD THING.
Just think about it, 'let's just go for a drive' Sod the cost of petrol, sod the muppets in their caravans, sod all the twa*s in their company BMs, let's just go for a bloody good drive and ENJOY our cars.
I've been using this site for years and years. Even been to quite a few meets, yet you'll always get someone that will pick a tiny, pointless hole in a thread about GOING FOR A DRIVE FOR A LAUGH AN HAVING SOME FUN.

Wow thats a good drive - how lond did it take you - 5/6 hours? I thought of going out for a drive tonight but decided to stay in. My cars not great for long distances due to lack of power
just over 6 which is fine. And fun (something which certain members on here seem to have a problem with, driving for fun. Sad t**ts) normally do around 10-12 a day in the van.FunBusMk2 said:
Let's all just make friends before it goes wrong. I'm sorry if I started it all - it wasn't my intention.
good, and is the 'funbus' good for dogging or surfing? Either way I'm interested Tried re-adjusting the ski hatch in the 155 to get the 'Board in but it isn't working.aizvara said:
OK, I should probably not expect a conversation about the roads in question, then, as I am a BMW driver tt.
Shame. Also interested in the choice of 2.0l instead of V6, as I've always wanted an Arese V6-engined car.
2.5 V6 Arese in a 155 is possibly one of the most delightful combinations that exists. It's just great and I mean REALLY great. It's an aural pleasure that cannot be replicated. even the 3.0l 12v version I had in my 164 cloverleaf didn't quite match it, certainly had mor go to it though.Shame. As for handling, I have to say, the (63kg lighter) 2.0l engine trumps it on twisty stuff, don't get me wrong, the V6 can do it but it takes a lot more work and rubber to plant it.
IF you can find both, try them out. You'll end up buying one of them.

Thanks for that; more temptations added to the perennial car search. The noise is the main reason for my interest, good that you mentioned that first!
So, what about my earlier question: what roads did you find? I'm always on the look out for interesting roads in the (relatively) local area.
to be honest I don't even know WHAT roads they were, I'd guess most of them are B roads but it was just south of Thetford after the roundabout before it goes to the single carriageway section. That was shut off and everyting was divetrted left towards one of the RAF bases then, whilst heading to Norwich, my spac nav took me on a meandering course through the Suffolk/Norfolk countryside. My retentive memory remembered those roads and I had an absolute blast. So, what about my earlier question: what roads did you find?
