Not sure if this is in the right forum so forgive me if not!..

i have a problem with my 08 Range Rover sport- after i drive 100 miles or so it starts to emit a burning/gassy smell from the engine which then comes in through the vents making it unbearable to drive.
I've consulted 2 roadside assistants and a local garage and no-one can find this fault,i even got told by the AA that is was the lacquer my details used when cleaning my car thats heating up and rubbing on the brake discs?!

i know many of you will suggest visiting a Land rover specialist but at the moment I'm being a tight arse and trying not to spend any more money on 'expert' opinions!

My guess is something under the bonnet is getting hot - I assume 100 miles of mostly motorway? Was the engine bay detailed?
No it wasn't just the exterior body work,my initial thought was someonethign catching but after checking everything and all the oils we can't see anything that could be 'rubbing' :/
