Potential buyer wants to pay with bank transfer

I've finally agreed a deal to sell my 350z. The buyer wants to pay me using a bank transfer, where I can check that the funds are in my account before setting off to meet him. How safe is this and are there any scams I should be wary of?

No. He is from another part of the country and saw the car on the owner's forum.

Are there no scams to be wary of, or any way the transaction can be reversed? Fake cheques and whatnot?

That's what I thought, it's just for peace of mind really. I'm reading through a lot of similar threads on Moneysupermarket at the minute as well.

So before I give this the go ahead am I covered against all scams?

And who would be liable in this case? Surely once the funds are in my account I am in the clear regardless?
