1 month ago i bought a 1995 range rover p38 from a car dealer.
they sold me as well a warranty insurance....
since then the clutch started slipping and there is a air leak on the rear suspension.
when they printed the invoice they wrote "this car is being sold as scrap or spare or repairs and not in roadworthy condition, and to be trade sale px clearence."
was also sold with a new mot, new road tax, serviced and with a new exhaust as the old one was too rusty.
tomorrow i am taking the car back to have the clutch changed and the air leak checked.
legally where do i stand about the repair that need to be done? do i have to pay for whatever the warranty insurance doesn't pay (that for some reason i believe its not worth the paper its written on) or as the seller is a car dealer he have to repair it without charging me anything.
Thank you in advance.

i paid 3000 for it (i know it is a little bit over their price but was counting with piece of mind of buying from a dealer).
he said the sold as... was normal on part exchanges.
considering he took the car to the mot (and passed with no advisories) and put a new exhaust goes against not being roadworthy and sold as spares.
when i spoke to them they said to take the car that they would take care of it. that they would deal with the warranty insurance as well but i might have to pay whatever comes in excess of the value they pay.

Did you not test-drive it before you committed and check the clutch?

one of the first things I do.
biting point was a little bit high but it seemed acceptable. only when you floor it at 50 mph that it starts slipping.

Page 24-32 and page 36 of that pdf is of particular interest to yourself smile
so he have to repair it free of charge and the non roadworthy sold as spares is just a useless waste of ink.
Thank you.
will let everyone know how it went.
tomorrow i am just dropping the car there and he said Monday they will look at it.

took the car there and they said that they will look into it monday. for me to dont worry.
lets hope and see.
(the clutch was changed 2 years ago. probably the previous owner was towing a caravan and abusing it.)
as someone said... even if we meet half way its a bonus.

ok. got the car back. stayed there one more week due to something up that came up.
regarding the clutch i only paid for the parts (what i think its fair).
the problem that the car have now and couldnt find much information about it is.
got a small problem.
when reversing it cuts off sometimes. the same happens when revving up to 3500 rpm the engine cuts off as well.
car was connected to the machine and only errors coming up was temperature sensor and was cleared up and didnt showed up after a few test miles.
when i picked it up this morning the car was fine but it started doing the same after 30 miles.
driving it about 150 miles tomorrow hoping that the problem was contaminated fuel and that clears up.
any ideas of what might be? thanks
