Hi all, first time posting here, been lurking for a while.

Recently bought a 61' plate Corsa Limited Editon in White, 1st proper car (other than a Y reg clio I had for a month). The car was pristine when I picked it up, 1 previous owner, 5000 miles on the clock and no kerb damage to the alloys. I've been looking after it like a lunatic.

On Sunday, I was driving up a street that has a slight incline and cars are typically parked on both sides meaning you should be wary of drivers coming in the opposite direction. As I was driving up, I was met with a double decker bus in my lane with not enough space for him to get past safely but he continued anyway, he was literally millimetres away from my car and I had to mount the kerb which has caused a gouge in one of my tyres and lots of scratches to one of my alloys. I immediately stopped and put on my hazards but the driver drove off. I turned around, followed him, pulled him over and asked for an explanation, he apologised but said it was my fault i damaged the car, he was reluctant to give any details so I took a photo of his bus and went on my way. Contacted the police and filled in a RTA report but they advised me that if he hasn't actually hit my car, there isn't much point continuing with it as we won't get anything from them.

I've contacted the bus company and they want me to send pictures of the damage to them.

What can I expect to come from this? Will it affect my insurance if I proceed with trying to claim for the damage caused?

Any help is much appreciated

Not worth a claim mate. I've been in similar situations but woudn't kerb my car for anyone. Stand your ground next time - I doubt very much that bus wker would have hit you if you had just stopped in your lane.

Have the tyre checked if you're worried about it's integrity and have a look into getting the wheel refurbed.

Edit - not worth an insurance claim, I mean. But if the bus company are looking to settle privately (which it seems they might be if they are in contact with you directly) then it shouldn't have any bearing on your insurance.

I have been given an address for the bus company's insurance department, they are asking for images of the damage. But I'm unsure how this works, would going through their insurance, affect my insurance?
