Bathurst battle: Time For Tea?
A battle of monster-like GT3s at this weekend's Bathurst 12-hour with a thrilling finale captured here
This year's Bathurst 12-Hour went down to three cars for the final few laps. A Bentley Continental, Audi R8 and a Nissan GT-R in third. One safety car period followed another very quickly in the final quarter of an hour. There were seven manufacturers in the top seven with four minutes left on the mountain. And, well, it was all done rather quickly in fact.
The GT-R was up to second by the first corner under the green flag. It then slipstreamed the gigantic Bentley before the second corner. It was astoundingly fast, putting distance between it and the field very rapidly. The battle for the podium positions was fierce as the Bentley attempted to hold on and an Aston soon joined the train. It looks like a great battle.
A interesting endnote on Nissan's victory too. Two of its drivers in the #35 GT-R (Wolfgang Reip and Florian Strauss) were graduates of the GT Academy. From PS3 gamers to Bathurst winners in just a few years. Quite incredible.
