Car keyed -why do they do it?
Discussion
Went out to the car this morning to move it back outside my house (on the street as I don't have a driveway). It'd been parked a little further down the road than usual do to water mains work being undertaken in my usual parking area which had parking suspensions in place.
What I found when I reached the car was a fking massive scratch on the bonnet. Not only is it really bloody long, it's also deep right through to silver metal underneath in places.
Obviously it was some little st head showing off to his other drunken mates or something. Absolutely boils my piss. Probably gonna cost me a fair few £ to get the whole fking bonnet resprayed. As it's a lease car that's due back in March, the missus suggested just leaving it until closer to the handback date as if I get it re-sprayed now sod's law would dictate that the scrotes would do it again.

Is that the reflection of a single yellow line from under the front bumper?
Just thinking that if it was two wheels on the pavement, you might be able to add another group of people to your suspect list.
It is indeed a yellow line but I wasn't parked on it - I was in a CPZ parking bay for resident permit holders (and also without my wheels on the pavement).Just thinking that if it was two wheels on the pavement, you might be able to add another group of people to your suspect list.

Your blocking the warning sign to oncoming cars, they cant see the information on the road sign in front of your car, maybe someone did it because of that.
I seriously doubt it. His car is parked absolutely correctly - perhaps they should have vandalised the sign for being position incorrectly? The sign had moved from when I parked though - originally it was on the pavement when I parked the car and when I came back it was in the road in its position above.
So, anyone got any advice for good paint repair people in the Watford/Herts area?

So I've asked for a quote from my local Audi garage but am expecting a ridiculous price no doubt.
Does anyone know of any good body shops in Herts I could also try?
Are you mental? Why not go to the Bugatti garage on Mayfair and ask for a quote?Does anyone know of any good body shops in Herts I could also try?
Surely Chipsaway can do it for you and make it look like it never happened?
As I mentioned earlier up the thread Chipsaway won't touch it and recommended I use a local body shop, hence my question.

fk me someone spent a good couple of minutes doing that, that's not random fkmunches walking home from the pub. Any of your neighbours particularly cranky, or did you dare to park on their bit of the road for once?
Those pics are from multiple cars all along the road so unless one person is cranky that everyone is parking on the street vaguely near his/her house, then that's not likely to be the motivation. Looks like it is just a fking prick causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to other people's property.mcg_ said:
Absolute aholes
I live on a terrace road and my old car had it done down one side. Think my misses car has also had it done, although that's so bashed up who knows when it happened.
My new car now lives in the garage, I won't even leave it on the road for more than half an hour now. Misses wants a new car but there's just no point.
There's some nice cars on the road though, someone even brings home brand new Porsche and leaves them on the road over night! Only takes one dick head to ruin it for everyone.
Are you going to fix yours?
Yep I'm going to have to fix it as it's a lease and goes back in March. I might have to leave it until Feb and hope no-one else damages it between then and when it goes back. I can't see the point of getting it fixed now if it'll just be damaged again. I have a feeling it's going to cost me about as much as a family holiday. fking tts have really pissed me off as I don't have money to throw away!I live on a terrace road and my old car had it done down one side. So, here's a bit of a thread update for you...
My Audi A4 that was keyed twice (see beginning of this thread for pics) was picked up by BCA a week ago at the end of the lease. Thankfully the chap was an ex-copper and was very sympathetic for the damage and the total cost charged on his inspection sheet was £295. I'm still waiting on the final paperwork to confirm the final cost to me, but the moral of the story in this example is to not bother getting key damage fixed on a lease through VWFS as they seem pretty reasonable.
The only caveats are that 1. My mileage was well below the limit so that means I might be given more leeway and 2. My next lease is also through VWFS so that might give me some leverage if I need to contest the final costs.
The tts who damaged my car should really be getting a boot up the arse and the invoice through their letterbox though!

Received the final bill from VWFS last week and it came to £295 as per the BCA chap's estimate. That's very reasonable in comparison to what it'd probably have cost me to rectify the damage before I handed the car back at the end of the lease.
Still pissed off though that some tt has left me almost 300 notes lighter for no apparent reason.
