Maserati GranTurismo MC Sport Line Specials

Racy limited editions celebrate FIA GT wins

Maserati has launched a limited edition Gran Turismo S MC Sport Line to celebrate the victories of the Maserati Corse racing department in the FIA GT series.

Twelve cars are being produced for Middle Eastern market with a special matt white 'Ice' finish, and eleven are being built for the Italian market finished in matt 'Bianco Fuji' paint with pearlescent highlights.

Apart from the special paint, these limited editions are kitted out with a full range of MC Sport Line options available from the Maserati options list.

An aerodynamic package includes double front winglets, rear lip spoiler, door sill inserts, black window surrounds, black exhaust pipes and body-coloured door handles. Carbon fibre door mirrors and carbon-finish door handles are also part of the upgrade.

These modifications, developed in the wind tunnel and tested at various circuits with the Maserati GranTurismo MC race car concept, increase the vertical load (Cz is reduced by 30 per cent), allowing faster cornering and further improved traction coming out of corners, says Maserati.

Other aesthetic features, some of which can also be ordered for Quattroporte S and Sport GTS, include gloss black alloy wheels, interior carbon finishing and MC design aluminium racing pedals.

The suspension set-up includes a lower ride height (by 10mm), stiffer dampers, and larger-diameter anti-roll bars, which minimise lateral load shifts (roll angle is reduced by 20 per cent). Overall the car's rigidity is increased by 16 per cent at the front and 32 per cent at the rear.

MC Sport Line suspension is combined with drilled, slotted front and rear disc brakes, providing a more predictable and a more immediate braking action, the company says.

How is this different from just specing the car yourself? Can't you have all those options already on the configurator?

P~

edit : in fact, I did exactly the Bianco Fuji spec just at the weekend. Sadly I am a little short of the £107k it came to...

Erm : http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1317916.htm

I am clearly not reading it right...a limited edition that is just the same as you can spec yourself?

It needs to lose 200-300kg.
I heard it said the same about you.

I do agree with that, tho. I always think the GT should be much faster than it seems on paper. I imagine it to be viewed in the same way as early AMV8's were (the 4.3) - feels like it should be faster.
