Easy start....

The aerosol can filled with various volatile vapours to aid the starting of an otherwise dead engine -
After a discussion at work today me and one of the best mechanics I know found that various people had told us both over the years that "ooooh
you shouldn't use that, your engine will get addicted to it"
Neither of us could recall how or why this could supposedly happen so I thought I would put it to the PH masses for an answer OR is it simply a case of it doesn't fix the problem so you'll need to keep using it?

Thanks for the replies, I'd just like to add that I don't need to use it nor does my mechanic friend to start any of our vehicles, easy start just happened to come up in conversation.
It would appear, save for a few sensible answers nobody here has a clue either!
