Got any ammo.....please...
Discussion
My father-in-law, very generously and kindly has offered to buy my wife and I a new car as our(please dont laugh) citroen xsara 2.0hdi has cost us way too much in repairs this last year.(suprise suprise)
So we did our extensive research etc and we want to buy a Honda FRV.(we are a small but growing family, dont like 7 seaters, plus wife is afraid to drive them)
Our reasons for choosing Honda are obvious for those of us blessed with common sense, however my father in law is stuck on Ford C-Max.
So PHer's please give me your thoughts, and hopefully some ammo to attack the situation with, or convince me to go get a C-max.

ah dammit c-max is winning!
Thanks though guys
I'm open to other suggestions, not that i'm against the idea of a c-max, a little boring though?
Criteria is something big enough to fit my wife and I, 2 children in kiddy seats, big boot, and room for at least 1 passenger. And something not sluggish, so I can enjoy it. (or will i have to sacrifice fun?)

Oh r11co if I were a fool would i have posted this initially? No its not the badge thats puts me off, after all I do own a new transit, its more that I was under the impression that honda had a more reliable name than ford, stuck a little in the past I guess.
As regards looks I do prefer frv over c-max, its a marmite car, I know.
SO supposing we are getting the c-max, budget £6,000. We cover 10k miles per year max, diesel or slightly newer petrol?
P.s thanks for the welcome

Yea I am grateful whatever FIL wants to buy us is fine, He's the kinda guy who would be devastated if his choice caused us endless problems, but as many of you have suggested the c-max sounds pretty good. As regards trading in our car for something fun for the weekends, our car trade in value is a massive £850.00
any suggestions? a jap 80's classic preferably

For 6k the honda Frv's one can buy for my wife and I generally are a few years older and higher mileage than the cmax's available. The cmax feels not as well built as the frv but in the long run, servicing aside, the cmax is gonna save us the monies, cheaper to tax and insure and more economical.
If we grow out of the cmax i'll be back asking for suggestions.
cheers
