Had a confrontation with the curb while it was snowing.. pulled over to drop someone off and hit an invisible half height curb..

Only just been inspecting the car since the mot is up in a week and this looks like a potentially dangerous? fail..

replace both tires? Neither or just the culprit.. still plenty of tread in both of them

Presumably since you drove into a kerb when it was snowing. Unless it has appeared/increased in size since in which case it definitely needs replacing.

Did you not inspect your car after you knew you'd driven into something?
Thats the thing, I did inspect it and didnt notice although the weather could have easily been reducing its visibility as it was still snowing and starting to get dark.. That or the fact I was fixated on the massive gash to my pristine alloys frown

for the record no cords, nylon threads or anything exposed, but there is a reasonable amount of rubber cut back...

I havent had any collisions at speed with curbs so I'm 99% sure its from the curb at 1-10mph

Use Araldite, much safer
If I'm honest super glue was the first thought that crossed my mind, just to make it less obvious hehe

The Question is, Gti-6 or rallye?
its a gti-6

wanted a rallye but I didnt think the premium (aka almost double in some cases) justified the 50kgish weight loss smile also the black leather gti-6 interior is much more aesthetic :P

As a few sensible people have said, that does not look like significant damage. I'd not bat an eyelid driving on it.
The gash does look deeper in the flesh than on pics but I'll be putting it through the mot and visiting a tire place for opinions.. Its been driven on for atleast 2 months up and down the country with plenty of 'varied' use.

However you clearly like the corners. Bit of scrubbing on the outer edges there.

MOT booked for thursday morning and might also pop into a tire changers to see what they think..
(car is currently jacked up as I'm trying to fix a few issues)

As for my opinion on the tire, I think I'll be super glueing it unless the garage and tire changers tell me I will die..
