Oil for an old audi..

Im looking to do an oil change on a 110k miles audi 4.2 v8 (NA)

The book tells me it needs to meet certain VW specs, fair enough i can narrow my search on opieoils with that info.

But would semi do? or do i need fully synth? and 10w40 or 5w30? I suspect either is good.

Any suggestions from those more educated than I would be appreciated.

My current feeling is semi will be fine and the different between the 2 viscosity's will be next to nothing.

I agree, which is why im not down halfords picking up some non brand mineral oil for it

Looks like fully synth 5w30 VW spec 501.00 for me then

Mines a 2000 car
