Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how much it would cost to fully retrim the interior of a 993. There's a 993 s on the classifieds which could tick lots of personal boxes except for its nephrite green interior (which may be for some but isn't for me). I expect I could live with the colour for a while but it would be good to know the costs to change if one day it all got too much :-)
Thoughts?

Carpets about 1.5k
leather dependant on seat style about 3k
It would be cheaper to do an interior swap truth be told. Ebay and marque brakers should be your first point of contact

Way more than 3k to do front and rear seats, door cards, dash, parcel shelf, centre console....

Or alternatively: a fraction of the random £3,000 figure suggested to have the leather stripped and re-coloured.

Not necessarily. Front and rear seats in leather at Southbound costs £1500 plus Vat fitted. Door cards and centre console probably another 750 (in leather) and then it's just carpets (assuming you don't need to change colour of wheel, dash and caps - most don't).

Agree, carpet from Dave (Southbound) is about 650 iirc. But then you have the cost of fitting - if you go for a new carpet you are looking at a grand in labour to start with - 26 pieces and a PITA job to do since the old carpet is a nightmare to remove.

Did they start to really stick it in on the 993?

I would just put up with it. Hey, its a talking point! The max i would do is have the seats recoloured in black, that would at least tone it down a bit.

You won't be able to keep the dash, caps etc on that!

Seems like no two are the same. Personally, if the carpet is the right colour and not worn, better to have it professional cleaned.

Same for other parts - if you are doing a interior colour change then you can get lucky to find replacement interior - for example the centre console in leather is about 680+vat new, or 150+vat re trimmed.

A chap I know had his 930 fully retrimmed at Southbound a couple of year back. £9K. A work of art.

Most 968 racers were sent for dipping carpeted because it was impossible to remove!

Personally, Id leave that as it is, but if I had to do something I think that Id re-colour the dash top and the tops of the door cards. If that was still too much then Id re-colour the seats too.

Along with a black wheel this should do the trick and its all reversible.

Wasn't TUR130 J was it? Amazing car that had just been subject to a full restoration at the factory!

This car has been for sale for a few months now and exactly this discussion was had on other forums when it first came for sale.

Everyone agreed the interior would have to be changed but otherwise seems a great car. The problem at the time was that the price compared to others did not leave room for the retrim. Second hand parts are also harder to find / more expensive for the 4S as they are leather and not vinyl........but...... 4S prices have continued to rise since then and now the car is looking cheaper an cheaper and the cost of a retrim more feasible. I think with a more friendly interior colour the car would be £42k + ?

These were my thoughts exactly. Looked overpriced with the interior, now looks more reasonable given the rise in S prices. I'll need to go and see it in the flesh to see exactly how 'extreme' it is if it's still for sale later this month. Be interested in any feedback from people who have seen the car in question already - PMs welcome!
