I was just casually browsing through the classifieds this morning & I noticed there are virtually no 996 GT3's for sale. Checked Autotrader & the same.
I've not looked for ages but I always seem to remember there would be a fair few up for sale. Is this a recent thing, are they really that scarse now?
No I'm not selling mine, but genuinely interested if the market has shifted significantly.

It's been like that for about a year now. There were quite a few advertised in Spring last year, which got snapped up heading into the fun season and then in autumn nothing really appeared for sale as it normally would after the season and it's just bumped along this year with the odd car appearing and selling very quickly.
A few mint Mk1s have set some big targets (or at least advertised for) and a few damaged 1s and 2s have gone for a song.
Ade probably got the biggest bargain of the year with the Parr RS, it sat for ages as nobody had the balls to pull the trigger.
As an owner I can't see anything at all on the horizon I'd swap for and I think that's the biggest problem in supply. That and the fact the cars are of an age now where 99% are bought outright instead of financed and with the money market the way it is, there's no point pulling cash out unless it's a fire sale.

Given whats happened to them value wise I wonder how much I can get for it if i was to sell and if i should even be considering selling her?
I bought the Arctic Mk1 from JZM a couple of weeks before you got yours.
Full cargraphic system
MK2 brakes
KW V3s
CS flywheel/clutch
I've been slowly gathering all the original parts and boxed them up in the loft. 67K on it now and as tight as a drum, shocked a couple of E60 M5 friends recently on a euro trip at just how fast it is when properly let off the lead.

Drop Russ a quick email and ask mate, I've done this recently for insurance and he offered to put something more formal I. Writing if needed.I would've thought it's getting mighty close to 90-100K now though ? A lot of cars seem to be changing hands without being advertised so price unknown but I think if I was in the market I'd be happy to pay the above for a good, clean car like yours. They'll be a fortune one day (Apollo told me !)

Haha not a bad shout m8. I meant Russ not apolo btw. I would've thought it's getting mighty close to 90-100K now though ? If I sold it what to buy is the question. 997 gen 1 non RS great car or a 996 C/S maybe.
As far a 5 yr values are concerned I've no idea plus if I keep it ill do 3k miles per year.
Have a couple of other projects on the go so have to think about it soon
I know what you mean but I think you'll regret selling, esp in 5-10yrs time. Apollo might offer you a Fiver for it 'tho, as long as it's had its 10K re-fresh.
I managed 600 miles in mine last year and just under 1K so far this year, pathetic really.

Cars awesome to drive focused but in a brilliant way.
I'm not a flappy paddle man so it's either 996 or 997 for me.
Anyhow OP you see the problem people don't want to sell them.,
So milkem you have an RS ?

I've got a 996.2 GT3 and an E60 M5, the latter is a fantastic car and I get more chance to drive it than I do the GT3. I do think that the V10 is the better engine but the GT3 always surprises me at just how fast it is.A few years ago Lotus considered putting the M5 engine in the new Esprit, that would have been some car.
I'm not planning on selling my GT3 either, bought it three years ago and its a keeper.

Fred

The E60 is a fantastic car Fred, I know the F10s moved the game on again but I don't think you can go faster for the money. It normally starts romping away from most cars above 100 and just keeps going and going. At 140 there was nothing in it and by 170, I was maybe 2 car lengths behind. There's an Exige build somewhere with he S85 in it, that must be absurd.

Wow, that's a big increase since autumn when I sold GT54RSR at 12,000 miles with original panels and paint (besides a very tiny rear bumper repair) for £75k straight from a major service. That sounded good at the time, based on it having been bought for £72k 6.5 years earlier at 4,000 miles the last time it was on the market.Original panels. Over 20k miles. £70-£90k
