With the crazy prices being paid for 996 GT3's and especially 996 RS's , time to reflect on the undervalued 996 Turbo.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I reckon they're a performance bargain.
I'm just curious as to why you think they'll start to appreciate.

LongTimeGone, I think you could be right with the 996 Turbo. They are (relatively) cheap compared to other models and they are a stonking car with the reliable Mezger lump. As a bonus, for not much money you can build a 600HP monster!
Absolute Bargain.
If you look back in history you'll see the relatively older models fall out of fashion , then as they bottom out people realise what a bargain they are and the prices start to rise. The next model up falls out of fashion.....and so on , same for the 996 Turbo. I don't see them declining anymore , and are really one of the only affordable supercars out there that the average Joe can afford. One day the market will wake up, especially now as 996GT3's in all the variants are becoming unaffordable for most ( a shame though it is ) Then the Turbo is the next best thing IMO....and yes the Mezger Engine !
I know people don't like it when prices sky rocket as they have with 996 GT3's , unless you own one of course , but I do like to buy cars , drive and enjoy them , and when time comes to sell if you've made a buck or broken even then it's happy days all round.
I will be getting a 996 Turbo by the years end , I think vlaues at the moment are a steal for the amount of car your getting and just don't see values dropping anymore.....just my take on it

Valid points. The Turbo can throw up some expensive bills though and I'd be a bit concerned that average Joe has maintained it properly.
I don't doubt a good example is likely to be an absolute joy as well as a sensible place to park your hard earned.

Super car performance for the same price as a boggo BMW 320D. Bargain!
Yes but about as interesting to drive as watching paint dry. Sorry guys, and that's coming from an owner. It's love hate with me, I think the car has prescence and it will make non car people in your family think you have won the lottery, but if it's entertainment you are after, then it's potentially an expensive ownership experience just for soulless warp speed. - They made over a million of them so worth about 50p.
That's about the jist of it, coupled with that point made above about the sterile drive.
Aircooled stuff and GT3s offer the involvement and feel. 996TT sacrificed that to be everyday safe and useable.
I'd be surprised if they seen any notable gains in the next ten years at least. Just enjoy them for what they are, a very quick useable car.
If you had £25k-£30k and wanted future investment opportunity an S1 Exige would be a safer bet probably.
