Do you get much jealously ?
Discussion
Today I went shopping at Lidl.
As I loaded my car afterward, (991.2 GT3) an unknown white male in a VW van drives by my car with his window down. I did not know him. He then leans out the window and shouts: "You f...ing w..ker - that's what a right f...ing w....ker looks like."
Since the was no pre-road rage issue, I assumed the man was probably jealous.
I have the odd family member who more politely frowns on my excess spending on cars - just wondered if anyone else experiences this sort of rubbish ?

It happens. You can avoid it by going to Waitrose, honestly. As I loaded my car afterward, (991.2 GT3) an unknown white male in a VW van drives by my car with his window down. I did not know him. I would rather drive the Porsche than the van.
Once a load of cyclists came half way out of a junction and I chose not to stop to let them all come out and be stuck behind them as they ride 3 abreast and shouting at eachother. One of them said "All Maserati drivers are wkers" as I drove past. For simply continuing along a road that I have right of way on. I am not a violent person and have never been in a fight but for a split second I was tempted to get out the car. But I didn't.

I've never experienced that - I suggest you were just unlucky.
Or he could actually be a fking wker - we just don't know. It's nice that PH gives Porsche drivers the benefit of the doubt. Oddly enough when I had my 911 I too had a couple of run-ins with van drivers. On one occasion the van was determined to overtake me on a narow country lane and I was so convinced he was going to ram me I turned off. I’ve had several people drive right on my rear bumper in my GT3....but it is orange so maybe I have myself to blame. They alll want to have a race. I’ve had way more positive comments....funniest one was in a petrol station when the person at the till used the PA to announce it was the best car he’d ever seen filling up!
Never in my DB7. "That's the most beautiful car I have ever seen" in a supermarket car park.
Never in my 981C. Couple of nice comments in petrol stations.
I can imagine the 911, being the iconic poster car, might be treated with more contempt, but I'm not sure why? I guess it's deemed to be flaunting wealth in a vulgar way.

Why shouldn't someone be able to drive to the supermarket in a nice car without fearing abuse? I only get to drive my car once a fortnight to the supermarket 2 miles away these days it's all I have time for between working and looking after my kidsDJMC said:

I have to say, having had 4 Porsches, they did attract more of this negativity than the other cars I have owned. I think there is something about the brand where it isn't as premium as some of the Italian ones or something, seen as 'try hard', plus the tarnish of association with stockbrokers in the 1980's shouting into large mobiles, that generates a degree of resentment and it's sad as a lot of them are cheaper than the socially acceptable but outragiously bland white A3 or A Class that so many lust afterNever in my 981C. Actually that's only part of the post, the rest you chopped off.

Personally, I never go shopping in the GT3. Too many badly driven trolleys!

You’re successful for a reason. Probably ability and hard work, perhaps with some luck along the way. Your white van man might perversely have a much greater sense of entitlement than you, parking wherever he wants, across 2 spaces etc.
Your car didn’t get keyed, forget it!
Agree the above.Your car didn’t get keyed, forget it!
Don't get me wrong - I'm not really stressed, I realise it's someone else's issue.
What did surprise me though, was the - actual level - of unprompted verbal aggression.
(Thought GT silver would sail a just little under the radar...)
Maybe I will shop at Waitrose !

You're asking for it now, cue several posts from people who 'know someone' who is a multimillionaire but who choses to drive an old van and stops to pick up abandoned sofa cushions at the side of roads, 'money shouts, wealth whispers' kind of thingYour car didn’t get keyed, forget it!
