991.2 GTS spec / buying guide
Discussion
Looking to move from my 1st generation R8 v10 into a 991.2 gts in the near future.
I’ve to sell my Audi 1st & not in a rush, probably be next spring when I actually commit to purchase but I do like to do a bit of research into my planned purchase.
Is there any specification / options must haves / nice to have / wouldn’t buy without / can be retrofitted etc on this particular model.
Anything to look out for ? I’ve read and watched videos about the turbos failing. Is there anything else to look for?
Any good forums or Facebook groups?

Any 991.2 building guide is going to be applicable to the GTS really. Options are just whatever you like in a car, as its a GTS it'll have all the ones you really need or want already IMO except RWS which you'd need to try to know if its worth it or not. Seats are a personal preference again.
If you get one with center locks you need to be aware you'll have to go to the OPC to change tyres etc which you may or may not be happy about.

I have rear wheel steering on mine, not sure I notice!
Dynamic lighting system is ace.
Radar control cruise is ok, doesn’t stop you undertaking unlike the system on my Golf.
CarPlay, essential but I think that’s standard.
Check for rattles. I’ve still got a bit of trim creaking somewhere that annoys.

We had a 991.2 with a few rattles and squeaks. Felt tape around ALL of the seat belt sockets solved it for pennies.Dynamic lighting system is ace.

Specs on them are all over the place; I wanted rear-steer (actually more helpful for parking...), glass roof and the interior, which many don't have for some odd reason!. I wanted a manual but I was either giving up the spec for the gearbox... or it was silver and still, not having the spec.In the end I have everything I wanted but with PDK. I'm still looking for a manual :P
Warranty will sort the turbos out. I've had mine checked but that doesn't mean much in the day to day. Great, great car.

It astonishes me how many of the (particularly late i.e. 2018) cars have standard interior with plastic dash. Most of the cars currently in the OPC network seems to be specced this way.Warranty will sort the turbos out. I've had mine checked but that doesn't mean much in the day to day. Great, great car.

Good independents are familiar with centre locks. If you get one with center locks you need to be aware you'll have to go to the OPC to change tyres etc which you may or may not be happy about.
I am also looking for a 991.2 GTS although in different spec from the OP I think. In terms of the interior packages, and sorry to ask a question that has been asked before but the answer is not clear,
What does the GTS Interior Package bring and what exactly does the Alcantara package GTS bring?
As far as I can make out, these cars come with any variation from no alcantara at all, to alcantara on:
- door inserts
- door handles
- steering wheel
- gear selector (PDK)
- seat inserts
- whole seats inc bolsters
- Sun visors
- glovebox lid
And it seems the GTS package also includes leather dash with contrast stitching and CF on the centre console and dash.
Does GTS + alcantara = all the above? Or is it a la carte?
Personally I would like some/most of these but there is a lot of variation.
Any enlightenment appreciated.
Also is the September 2018 cutoff for GPF the manufacture date? How does one know that?
Thank you.

Thank you. There does seem to be a lot of variation within that 'GTS Interior' envelope.
I have just looked at one 991.2 GTS which did not have the GTS interior pack on its spec sheet, and had alcantara door cards/handles, steering wheel, seat inserts, PDK handle, but not glovebox lid or centre console and a non leather dash; it had no mention of a la Carte alcantara on the spec sheet.
Meanwhile I have seen some GTSs with the Interior pack which had non alcantara steering wheel and PDK selector and alcantara glovebox and leather dash, and the only relevant spec difference was that they had the interior pack. While others with the same stated spec have alcantara in other places and not in others.
And some seats are all alcantara on their squab and some are alcantara on the squab/insert and leather on the bolster, while others are all leather, all on GTSs, seems to vary by seat not by interior pack, but not in a way I comprehend.
A minor mystery!

As posted on a previous thread.

Standard interior has half leather / half Alcantara seats with plastic dash and door trims.
Optional GTS interior has half leather / half Alcantara seats, leather dash and door trims and stitching in black.
Optional GTS interior in conjunction with red or silver stitching has half leather / half Alcantara seats with red or silver stitching (obviously!) and matching coloured dials.
I think Alcantara wheel was standard across all, but lots of cars have optional leather wheel as they wear better.

Just to add I think the carbon interior trim came as part of the silver / red stitching pack.
It could be separately optioned on the others but they usually have the black sort of brushed metal looking trim (can’t remember the official name and don’t have brochure to hand at the moment!)

Milemuncher you are absolutely right sorry you said that in reply to a previous thread I started. I see the system of dash/stitching etc. What does still seem to be a mystery to me anyway is the extent of alcantara on the doors, gear selector (seems random distribution), and the centre console armrest (?).
Noted that alcantara on steering wheel was often deleted.
What about sun visors and interior A pillars..?
