what is an 'early' 3.4 996?
Discussion
I used this guide and sourced a manual wheel so it can be easily swapped back.

I think there might be someone selling converted steering wheels on eBay.

I'd be hoping to pay under or as close to £20k as possible.
Not many dealers will take on 100k mile cars, and fewer will warranty them unless they underwrite it themselves.
Here's one on 88k, from a respected specialist dealer, warrantied. £22k, and I'd expect a deal given the current state of the market.

Really, you’d expect to negotiate 10% off! Not many dealers will take on 100k mile cars, and fewer will warranty them unless they underwrite it themselves.

I’m doing something wrong

I'd expect one that has gone over the 100k mile 'barrier' to be a bit less, then negotiate as much as possible from there.
One for the brave, who said the days of the sub £10K 996 manual coupe were dead LOL

Do you reckon it uses a bit of coolant? Also exhaust joint between back box and cat looks completely absent?!https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15214592
Paint doesn't look terrible though. Definitely one for the brave/looking for a 3.7 donor.
Also: Did 500 miles over the weekend in the 996 - having just changed the battery to one with 800CCAs the MPG gauge was reset and I managed almost 30mpg which I'm pretty delighted with. Lots of cruising 'at motorway speeds' and even some fun driving at the end of the trip which I think is pretty excellent.

This would work as a basis for a track car, or if you'd really want to have a go at a second PCAM Carrera Club car rebuild

Hello all, long time lurker and first time poster. I am on the lookout for a 996 and have been looking through the classifieds, there is a Y reg 996 C2 in silver with 79k miles on PH asking price £24k, what are your expert opinions on this please?#
This will be my first Porsche so I'm not sure what to be looking for or if it's good value or not.
I cant post a link as it won't let me.
Any help appreciated.

I think it’s been discussed on this thread already. Sounds good. As with any of these get it inspected.
If your budget is at that end of the market I would suggest looking at Toby’s old car.

That bottom one looks lovely. It's a pity the seats/steering wheel/lights are being removed. For 30k I think I'd want them.I think it’s been discussed on this thread already. Sounds good. As with any of these get it inspected.

Agreed. I wonder why they're doing it? Sounds like FGP are trying to maximise their profits by removing and selling the items separately - which is pretty low, IMO. If they don't want to advertise the parts in the photos, then take them out and show the buyer what they will actually be getting. You'd be very annoyed if you paid £30k for that and got some old cracked and scuffed items in their place. My opinion of FGP only ever seems to go in one direction.
ETA Also not sure on the tactics of the £24k car, being photo'd in front of a church. It's like when dealers take photos of their cars away from their premeses. But then Langdon (Laindon) Hills is one of those places that people like to put on their business address, when in reality you go 100 yards away from the High Road, and it's Beirut levels of council.

Merry Christmas everybody.
Buy this and you can spend up to 10k-15k on it for free!
...before FGP buy it and advertise it for twice as much.
