@boringbeige - if you were going for sunday morning b-road blast to get your palms sweating & make you feel alive, which would you choose, Carrera T or 991.1 GTS?

Yes the garage looks lovely, especially the massive internal oak frame - but it's taught me that weather boards aren't dustproof. the cars in there go in clean but come out filthy !!!

Agree.....it validates some of those early reviews saying that the T kept the Touring honest on the Cul de Turini.... Horsepower winning out in the straights of course but really surprised at how close it was though with the T being 130bhp down...

There is another review of the T.. I spotted on You Tube last night in Dutch with English subtitles... and the guy was gushing for it......will try and find it and post the link later...

Dutch you say? 'Gushing' you say? The temptation to post a link to 'Jam 2: astonishing sod ape' is real, but it's definitely NSFW so I'll resist.

More likely to finally change my 'old' 991 for a 992 when it finally comes, but having read the above called my local OPC who interestingly has "a couple of 911T" left which can be built to my specification in April and "Just in time for the better spring weather, rolling country roads, trips to the Lake District and summer holidays in Cornwall..."

"At list price. No premium?"

"No, we can't Mr. T, sorry"

"Oh that's a shame, I usually pay over list price..."

"By the way any chance of a GT3RS?".....

"Well, yes I've got one build slot left, would you like it?"

"Yes please, I'll send my deposit now"

At that point I woke up frown

Might be worth reading the article that accompanies the video before jumping to any conclusions.

The Touring underperformed as the air temp was below zero during the test..This made it impossible to get any heat in the Cup 2s and the reason the driver was less smooth in the Touring versus T.

Well that’s just ridiculous.... They should have made sure they had at least the same tyres if conditions were poor......Assume the T was running on road rubber P Zeros, which is also going to have a negative impact...with low temperatures they harden off really quickly.......but .....The GT3 will always win out......

Personally, I’d like to see a Porsche comparison between all their current 718 and 911 cars on track with the same or equal drivers........Maybe one for a You Tuber...! could then bring in some of the 991.1 997 etc etc....Someone must be able to do this, to settle some Pub debate...

I posted before i'd love to see the 718 GTS manual against the 991T..I'm willing to bet the 718 will be even quicker.

It would indeed be very interesting but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if one of the new turbo engines cars was faster than the new GT3 90% of the time. Torque makes all the difference, particularly on road, so I think the real appeal of the GT3 is the experience.

I would agree though, daft to test cars on different tyres and in freezing conditions and expect to get a meaningful outcome. A bit like if it were 30C and dry and the GT3 was a lot faster on Cup2s!

Just look at the Ring lap time of the 991.2 GTS which is bonkers
