Roof lining with contrast stitch and sun visor / map light delete. Doesn't photograph well unfortunately but looks great in reality.

Third brake light blanking panel is in and de-programmed ahead of duck tail reinstallation. All the polycarbonate windows (rear, front sides, rear quarters) are in and new rubber seals all round.

Thank you cy00 for the kind words. And Cheib also. Its been great fun and yes we have literally planned and debated every step of the way over and over. Great you are also in the UAE please do come over and say hi next time. I won't be ready for the track evening this coming Monday but should be good for the next one after that, probably end of March or early April. Yes the red 997 Turbo belongs to the owner of GeTech actually. I have been a customer there for a couple years now and it is fair to say he has become a good friend over that time. Porsche (especially 997 and 996) are their core market but they do also work on other makes. There is another very nice 997 Carrera C2 they have had for the past several months doing a full makeover so I will take some pics and post them up soon.

Was at yas marina 2 days back and saw a maroon turbo with getech stickers. Looks like the shop does a lot of Porsche work.
This is his car. Also has a custom interior but I don't have pics but will take some next time I see it.

Today was time for a job we have been putting off for ages.... cutting electric window switch holes into beautiful new shiny carbon fibre door cards that were clearly not intended for such.

Luckily for me Mr Mario was up to the task smokin just a little bit of finishing to do but the sweaty palms bit is thankfully over

Looking good - you're keeping my Porsche enthusiasm going whilst mine is in the garage due to the cold and snow in the UK!

Ian
I know the feeling all too well. Will hopefully enjoy mine for a couple of months before also storing away in the A/C for the boiling hot summer days here....

Its been quite some time since I last posted really because of two massively time consuming labour intensive jobs.

The carbon door cards took an age to fit. We had never fitted these before and so took baby steps and cutting the electric window switch holes was totally nerve racking. I think it has been 8 hours labour per side to be honest.

But now fitted beer

And the second major job was the ducktail. Whose bright idea was it to fit a ducktail designed for a Carerra to a GT3? Since I am not the most mechanically minded or even vaguely capable person, it didn't cross my mind that the fan and air duct positions would be completely different confused the result was that the ducktail spent a few weeks in the bodyshop being cut apart and then a totally new inlay being designed and fitted to exactly match that of the inside of the GT3 wing. I must say they did an amazing job and managed to retain the original structural areas including around the latch.

Ducktail Before:

Ducktail After: clap

And to compare to OEM GT3 wing:

Cockpit area is nearly there now. Some small tidy ups and little missing bits of trim still being finished off to match but not far to go:

Hey both it is undoubtedly a lot and I am sure very few others would want to allocate their hard earned funds in the way I have chosen to do but I do love it and no regrets whatsoever. I went in eyes open there is no other car I would prefer for the money. I don't mind sharing the costs actually as my whole ethos on this project was to be fully open and show all aspects. I have a detailed spreadsheet and will show it at the end. The car is now complete and will be on track on Friday so I will post some final pics then.

wow what a project!

50% I love / 50% I dislike but 100% I admire

hell of a commitment - what do you guess will total cost of all the mods (if its not too rude a question)?
Thanks Adam and for the honesty. For sure with such an extreme and personal project a lot will come down to preference but I went with what I liked and ignored a lot of opinions along the way. And the smile vent is staying body colour redcard

As you said quite rightly so, opinions with such a project will differ. But that is the beauty of creating something exactly as YOU want it.
Bravo!

As for my 50p's:
I do like the body coloured smile vents
I love the ducktail
I'd prefer the Momo prototipo in black and with a different wheel crest
Love the colour
Love the CAE shifter
Hate the 3'd party nav screen
Thank you sir, I will take that beer

Stereo is really for functionality with today's tech, to facilitate the electronic gauges we have hooked up and because I find the stock ones so dated and plasticy looking

For the wheel crest, I couldn't agree more. Do you know where I can get other's? I could not find. Ideally would like a silver crest to match the rest.

BBS wheels (I know I may be in a minority here but purely on looks I prefer the standard wheels)
To be honest I have gone from thinking nothing of the stock rims to really liking them as the build progressed. So much so that I have decoded to run both the BBS LMs with Cup 2's for the road out here and the OEM wheels with Trofeo R's for the track. So I will get to enjoy both in the end although on balance still prefer the LMs

On another note I didn't get the Guards diff in the end as it took an age to produce so eventually I gave up and cancelled the order. In the summer the OEM diff is being sent to Manthey for their motorsport upgrade and the gearbox also for the shorter cup ratios. If budget allows, also their air box and induction kit.

Thank you all for the nice comments and also the constructive ones. All gratefully received and nice to hear different perspectives.

As mentioned, I am not precious about the build cost and if it helps others to have a price reference sheet in one place, I will tidy up my spreadsheet and post it later in the week along with all the final pictures. Thanks. Peter

Yes, its the one from Rennline. Really nice looking and finish but rattles unless you line the base with some cloth. But once that is done then fine. The original grab strip was red but the guys made a green one for me from the seat belt material to match

: )

I do have but only of the near finished car when we tested it so trying my best to hold off posting those as would like to show you guys the finished car. Friday is a track day at Yas Marina here in Abu Dhabi and unless something goes wrong I will be there and will inundate this thread with pictures. Will try to take some video also as the headers, straight pipe and Akrapovic box sound incredible..

I am sure though my choice of a single wiper conversion parked in the middle will not go down well with most eek so just to pre-warn....
