The seats were still under plastic, so I couldn't tell!! I've got a picture, but it comes up white, which it was far from white in person!!!
A brave choice, but I think it's paid off in my opinion!! Looks fantastic!!!! I would def go for it on a coupe!!
I reckon that would've been mine. Only a few days to go now. Really looking forward to getting back in a manual too after a few years with a PDK. A brave choice, but I think it's paid off in my opinion!! Looks fantastic!!!! I would def go for it on a coupe!!

A manual, in crayon, with buckets, sounds like the spec of someone who didn't get a GT3 allocation!!! Either way, that's exactly the spec I'd have for a coupe!!B1ggest said:
I think the shocker for me, was getting in the car yesterday at PEC and it had a plastic dashboard, I didn't realise it was possible to have such a thing, it felt seriously low rent.
The interior or the GTS model is a big rip off - the Carrera S gets leather interior so why the GTS is inferior to that is beyond me. However, there will be hardly anyone that hasn't specified the Leather or Leather/Alcantara though I expect quite a few will have drawn the line there rather than pay another £2k plus for the GTS interior.Well here it is, after what feels like an eternal (5 month) wait.
Here's a few first impressions after 30-odd miles....
- It looks spectacular and I'm very happy with the colour choice. Love the ride height and stance.
- The interior quality and level of personalisation sets a new high benchmark for me. The stitching options have come out really nice and I'm delighted with the painted air vents (with their somewhat preposterously leather covered slats!)
- I reckon it sounds FAN-bloody-TASTIC. I get why some die-hard 911 aficionados might be a bit 'meh' about it as yes, it is a different sound. But different doesn't equate to inferior. It still retains a proper 911 howl, but it's deeper (and arguably more refined-sounding) than the old N/A. As good as the V10 in my previous R8? Probably not, but then it's so different it can't really be compared. I didn't miss the V10 sound in the 987 Boxster I bought as a temporary smoker, so I'm not going to miss it now.
- Power delivery is good, and it feels very fast. Even in the context of the 610bhp R8, simply because that needed revs all the time. This just goes hard at any revs, so I would argue in day to day situations on UK roads, at worst it's as fast as the R8. In my opinion, it's still obviously a turbocharged engine....some comments suggest it feels N/A but it's far too strong for that and yes, there is some momentary lag low down. But the lag is only really noticeable in the standard driving mode; it's so well managed in Sport mode that it MUST have some kind of anti-lag system working away in the background. Throttle response is good, again not 100% N/A sharp (I'd give it 98% to the R8's 100%), but you'd have to be on some kind of OCD-spectrum for it to bother you.
- It feels surreal in bends. I'm conscious PDCC is not liked by all but I don't like the feeling of body roll so I do rate the system. The combination of PDCC and 4WS makes it feel somewhat invincible.
- The ride is fairly 'robust' though! Actually, it's just very hard, but at least it's very well controlled. Honestly, if the GT cars are materially stiffer than this then it's a good job I can't get one as they're not for me! In it's softest setting, it's materially harder than the R8 was in it's firmest setting.
- It rides very low, so much so that I'm going to need to be careful over speed bumps and even going into my drive (admittedly on an unfinished road) it just touches the ground in the middle of the car. In this respect it seems to ride much lower than the R8 did. One of the few boxes I didn't tick was the £1.5k axle lift system, mainly because it was yet another expensive option but also because I'd probably forget to use it!
- I debated the value of the Burmester option in the Macan and Cayenne, mainly because it was quite a bright sounding system in those cars (although on hearing the crappy Bose in the 718 my wife has just bought, I would still go for Burmester again and again). In the 911 there's no such concerns; it's a good sounding upgrade and if you do like to listen to music, it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Andrew,
Looks fabulous. Love the carmine red with black. I had a 981 Boxter GTS in this colour combo and was also really pleased with the depth of colour with the contrasting black.
Good to hear the sound system is worth the upgrade and hearing your comments on not having the lifting system is good news for me as I have specced it alas to the detriment of some leather upgrades, which do look good in your pictures.
Lovely lovely car. Congratulations on taking delivery and happy driving.....??
Mark.
Ps. Cool front number plate!
Pps. Did you pay Porsche for the key covers?
Ppps. See you went for keyless entry, how is this?. Did you also go for adaptive cruise control?

Mine is GT silver and i love it, however yours is by far the most stunning example i've yet seen esp with yellow Pccbs.Mine cost £107350 otr and i'm wondering would it be impertinent to ask how much yours was..Also what protection and detailing you've had done as it looks quite simply amazing...

Looks stunning Andrew, but I would say that as I've bought the same f**king car as you again! Here's a few first impressions after 30-odd miles....

Just picked mine up this morning, might have to get some of my own photos up. As for your review in contrast to the R8, I'd agree. The first and most important difference is that the missus adores the GTS, and loathed everything about the R8, so that is a great start.
As for the noise, I didn't expect it to be as loud as it is, nor did I expect it to feel quite as quick. I've put all of 12 miles on the clock, so not a fair review really, but what a brilliant car so far.
Coming from a 730HP GT-R, to a 610HP R8, to a 450HP GTS, you'd of thought I'd be wanting for more power, but honestly? On the road, this thing is far more engaging, fun, and better bloody looking than the previous two cars anyway, and I think that's what's arguably more important the end of the day; driving experience, not willy waggling about BHP.

I respectfully beg to differ. I have a Crayon GTS incoming, and the colour I think provides great contrast with the black components/wheels of the GTS, and looks great with the yellow calipers on the PCCBs. I would never buy a blue or "hint of blue" car, nor indeed silver. Each to their own, and mutual respect.
I would love to see pics of your car, Crayon was PTS when I ordered then it appeared mid build. When will yours arrive? In my mind it was like the 997 Sport Classic.I agree each to our own, but the important thing is that so far all have looked fabulous!

Absolutely lovely looking car and superb options. That is one very serious detail you've had done - is it waxed or ceramic coating? Here's a few first impressions after 30-odd miles....

Loving the interior details and the PCCB's as well.
For those wanting to see some photos of Silverstones New Demo...
They always like to be a little fruity with their first demo cars.... Not how I'd spec it myself (I hate the front numberplate plinth for a start as it butchers the front end imo) but cool if you want something a little out of the box!
I'd also want an alcantara wheel and stick or carbon wheel and stick. For me GTS steering wheel should be alcantara or carbon - hope thats not a weird thing to think?
Palmball your GTS looks awesome - congrats

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on that next week! Agree about Alcantara wheel as a personal preference. They always like to be a little fruity with their first demo cars....
