Just got my car (997.1) back from a lot of work being done. Engine out, RMS, coolant pipes (front to rear), new steering rack, front shock absorbers, new (Topgear) back boxes, LTT, rear coffin arms. For some reason a warning light keeps coming on saying coolant temp. Gauge is failing. Coolant levels seem ok. Any ideas?

I just put my diagnostic device on the 997 & it has come up with this Mariosbt said:
It turns out it is an airlock in the cooling system. An ex Porsche technician has told me it needs to be drained & re-filled using a vacuum device! Booked in on Friday
Had the above work carried out (£150). Following day took car out… 6 miles down the road the same warning light came on again. Getting a bit pi55ed off now. Looks like it might have to go to OPC FFS! Is it still losing coolant ?
Possibly a faulty coolant level sensor ?

Have you tried replacing the coolant header tank filler cap ?
No. Not losing any coolant. After driving for 10 miles, you can put your finger in the coolant filler tank & it is still cold. So for some reason the coolant is not circulating. Possibly a faulty coolant level sensor ?
