Chris 38 Thank you for your kind offer...alas I am down South but genuinely appreciated.

After calling around a few OPC's it feels like most have 1 or 2 demo's for sale but that unregistered cars are rare. I came by one Miami Blue car but it was pdk which is a no for me. I need to make my mind up...

Hahaha,,

Just returned from a burn in my GT3 with fixed buckets. I really find them comfy and more so than the 18 way adaptives SS's. No probs re back for me luckily enough.. The FB's are sensitive to weight, posture, stature and everything. We are all different. You can be mega fit, correct weight etc etc and still get the lower back ache and stiffness.

One thing for sure though,, age is definitely a factor. A good few struggle to get in and out and if this is the case and you are weighty then I would advise to get the comfy's, for sure..

Age doesn't necessarily need to be an issue. For all those bad backs and wannabe bucket owners get on a Pilates Reformer as without it I wouldn't be able to get in a 911 let alone the full buckets.

I am joking of course (for the most part) but I think it does depend on the person. I have had the LWBs in my last two cars and only one person has found them uncomfortable. That was my dad (in his late 70s) and it required two people to get him out of the car after a ride. Incidentally, he only found them uncomfortable to get in and out of but fine one in situ.

Sorry to hear about the bike accident, no offence intended.

I've been asked to keep spec under wraps, suffice to say it's manual with RWS and 918 seats, no privacy glass etc. If I sensed there were plenty around I'd be tempted to wait and see but I'm assured that ahead of the factory closure to get an unregistered car is unusual...more than happy to be proven wrong but would love to hear facts about what is newly available...many thanks again. I am told I need to decide pretty quick.
I know of a few people looking for a Carrera T, and there seem to be a few cars available with sunroof, privacy glass, PDK etc, but hardly any manual cars with RWS, standard glass....If it's in the spec you want, I'd take it

I have a manual T with RWS, 4 way seats and little else - I love it...!

I've had both fixed and folding buckets, and prefer the fixed ones - I appreciate we're all made differently, but surely if they were as uncomfortable as people made out, they wouldn't be such a popular option..? Particularly in cases where they are optioned (as I did) on successive cars....

I currently own two Porsches with LWBS and had a GT4 with them a while ago..I find them pretty perfect for me even after 3-4 hours solid in them.I'm about 5' 11'' with broad shoulders and in very good shape despite being 52 and they suit me fine..
One point i need to add as very few people seem to understand how the height adjustment works..In its very lowest position the seat is more inclined and as you raise the seat the backrest gets more upright in the process..The electric seat controls has a degree of tilt adjustment which very few people realise.
I need to have the seat in its very lowest position as i like to sit low which results in a less upright back by default..I can see the uprightness being more of an issue for others who prefer to have it higher..

What is the range of heights the buckets work with? My wife is 5'5" and needs a cushion to drive - not that she ever does. They do seem to be a little too specific to bodyshape imo.

People buy many things 'for resale and looks' - otherwise we would all be driving Kia Sedona's irked

Interesting point from Taffy66 about the height and seat back angle as I have my LWB's in their lowest position by default and find them really comfortable over long journeys. Winner, winner if they help the resale and looks.

yep at the very lowests it just give a minor tilt at the very last point, still not enough imo hence 3rd party brackets available.

I have the LWB seats in my 'T' and although I find them okay they are not as comfortable as the folding buckets in my old .1 GT3. Ideally for me, a little further tilt would be perfect so I may try a 3rd party bracket, anyone in the UK supply them?

Out of curiosity Mr D,do you have the LWBS at their very lowest setting..There is a common theme here that drivers who have them at the lowest point have no issues with them.I find a very large proportion of people my age have developed very poor posture resulting in all kinds of problems ie hip and lower back issues.
Stand straight man; shoulders back, belly in and head upright...Attention..!!
At 52 i do 240 V situps daily and can still do 40 pullups and 150 incline pressups..You must try harder..!

yep I have to have it lowest other wise I am in pain after 1 hour !! but the 997GT2 style are perfect angle to ease the lower back and weight in that area.

I have in fact been a on seat course with SAAB of all people (they were known to have the best seats back in the day) and was in charge of setting up how people sit in cars due to back issues people have for 1000's of engineers.
Sitting too upright like this requires huge muscle effort and keeps your back and pressure on the lower back too much !

Most people sit wrong any way, But if you are fit and have a strong core being that upright your core will cope with that muscle effort.
I am a lazy !!! my lower back is bad, I need even pressure down my back to take away extra pressure on my lower area.
I need to do dead lifts really to get stronger in that area before I get too old.

I can do Spa to UK in the Folding bucket no issue, it's a fine line of pressure when you set up a seat for people.

I remember my uncles Saab back in the late 70s and early 80s and the seats were a million times better than other cars of its time..I have a iron core which explains why i have no issues with the LWBS..
No need to do deadlifts which will only aggrevate your lower back, just do daily planks which are great for improving core strength, with no risk to your back..

There is this one for sale if anyone interested...
Pretty cool spec, albeit missing some of what I specced on mine wink

Looks like the price of them is going up! Not surprised tbh - word is getting out on them, factory shutting and rumours of the next 911 going v6/hybrid or whatever the hell is going on are rife.

Crazy money! I wonder if the new 992's will be quieter with EU regs for 2020?

Privacy glass and Pan roof on a T just doesn't seem like the best spec.
