Is this not a load of marketing crap with cup r tyres that wont last you a good day on track, why not do the ring and hock etc times on slicks!
Are cup r tyres going to be a sensible price now,i see some are having to take or buy tyres to get home after a track day.
Im not sure. The 991.2 GT3 RS lap times were Cup2R and so was the 991.2 GT3RS when it launched. The 991.2 GT2RS too. I think that now they have created this tyre and started benchmarking with it they are going to use it to benchmark all GT products moving forward. I suspect this is to improve their rankings against competitors who are also using "cheater" tyres. IN NZ the Michelin rep supplied CupR same price as Cup2 to try and win some business. It was fine until folks worked out they only give their best for half as long so they still worked out more expensive. TrofeoR are more widely used than CupR here by a huge margin. Most use Cup2. Dunlop almost non existent. Are cup r tyres going to be a sensible price now,i see some are having to take or buy tyres to get home after a track day.

On second thoughts, let's not go there.

All I’ll say is that the current reviewers will all take a different view of the car in 12-18months when things have settled down. Opinions will be far more balanced and only then will we know which car(991.2 or 992) will be looked upon more fondly. Nobody ever wants to upset porsche with their newly released product at time of launch.

Mint Green doesn’t do it any favours at all. Oh dear.
The 992 is very colour sensitive. That’s about as polite as I can be about it’s styling.
Mint Green....looked great on the 964 RS and there's a 997.2 GT3 that looks great. 991 and 992 just too big for a colour like that. My OPC specced a 991.1 GTS in it as as a showroom car....think it took six months to sell and seems to pop up every six months for sale. Think Romans have sold it three or four times now.The 992 is very colour sensitive. That’s about as polite as I can be about it’s styling.
I read that Cup2R's cost around 50% more than Cup2's and are in fact a Cup2 to the half wear point with a super sticky (soft) layer above this.
The Cup2's now wear well ... but the outer layer is good for only one good track day ... ??
This may also explain why the tyres are often pre-heated for optimum lap times so that this layer is not wasted just warming them up ? Or am I overthinking it ?

Colour's a personal thing, but I think it's a total no-no.

Yeah that’s about what I could do - he is not a professional so I am sure I’d get close if somebody lent me a car
And then I woke up
I do give more credence as a way to compare cars to the SA times though as at least it is same driver across different manufacturers and he only has very little time to get the best out of a car / set the time - makes them quite comparable even if different days and therefore different temps etc (need to make allowances for that)
