Apparently the so-called benefits of the ram-air effect of the winged GT3 are replicated in the Touring..When the rear spoiler is deployed the air hitting it gets forced into the engine intake somehow..This makes sense IMO because the top speed(max ram-air) of the Touring is only a couple of mph slower than the standard GT3.This minor discrepancy can easily be accounted for by the increased drag of the spoiler vs wing.
All the above i quote from Pete Stout's first driving impressions he posted on Rennlist......So don't shoot the messenger..

I am no expert on aerodynamics but surely the idea of the spoiler is to push air up and the car down ? just don't see how what Mr Stout says can be correct. All the above i quote from Pete Stout's first driving impressions he posted on Rennlist......So don't shoot the messenger..
Whether you want to accept it or not the wing on the standard GT3 creates less drag than the pop-up spoiler on the touring..Another fact is if you raise the wing with no other alteration the wing will create more downforce.
The front splitter on the Touring is identical to the one on the winged version. The spoiler in combination with the gurney lip on the Touring also makes nearly as much downforce as the winged version albeit with more aerodynamic drag. These are all salient facts and confirmed by high ranking Porsche engineers.
This is why Porsche racing 991s all use big wings rather than drag inducing upright spoilers..Its all about the angle and the higher the wing the better.

got an allocation - v. excited. spec is easy (PCCB's, standard wheels in silver, lift, full leather etc), but what about colour - torn between GT Silver with black, or Sapphire Blue with bright (as per the Frankfurt show car). think blue will look cool when dirty and on dull days (most of the time basically here in UK) and silver fantastic when clean and sunny. anyone else pondered over those two colour options ?

I was torn between Sapphire Blue, GTSM and CWM but I think any colour will suit the car perfectly.seawise said:

Pretty much exactly where I was a few weeks ago! Exterior colour was the hardest part. Rest much easier after that.Looks like GTSM will be the new white and most popular colour closely followed by thd lsunch colour of Guards red for the gen 2, in the UK at least.
Fine colour but imo unless you go black wheels, which imo look rather chavvy, everything is rather grey especially if platinum stitching is optioned.
The Sapphire blue is a bit GTS/vanilla Porsche for the GT3 but the yellow pccb calipers provide a nice contrast and either platinum or yellow stitching provides a nice contrast.
Recollect there are only 2 other phers spending SB so.it will be quite rare as a colour for obvious reasons.

No option to get yellow stitching as it’s a CXX option at £20k (and I did ask my OPC before re I locked my car down)Fine colour but imo unless you go black wheels, which imo look rather chavvy, everything is rather grey especially if platinum stitching is optioned.

£20k is a touch too much!Which colour car did you finally spec Martin?
Great colour.
I have toyed with many colours but still ended up with Carrera white like my gen 1.
Going 'manuel' ext leather red stitching folding buckets clubsport carbon ceramics lift platinum wheels dynamic lights etc etc.
Think this gen 2 will prove to be one of the great GT Porsches.
