Help choosing which GT3

Lovely. Enjoy.
Is it Basalt ? I found black was a royal PITA to keep clean irrespective of whichever wax/sealer you used in my experience ...
Hmm, no badge on the back, it must have been in an accident and been shoddily repaired. And that's before the £30k refresh...Is it Basalt ? I found black was a royal PITA to keep clean irrespective of whichever wax/sealer you used in my experience ...
And my basalt one if f*cked because it got dirty.

Very envious. Am looking at a 996.2 gt3 next week finished in speed yellow. Can you recommend a gt3 thusfar?
Worried it might be too hardcore for regular use.
We all have differing opinions as to what constitutes "too hardcore". 911 R thinks a Cayman R is "hardcore", I maintain it is not. Worried it might be too hardcore for regular use.
You'll only know the answer to what is too hardcore after you've driven a representative example for an hour (minimum) on a variety of roads that include some motorway driving, some fast A roads and some bumpier B roads.
By representative I mean a healthy (specifically brakes, clutch, gearbox, suspension and tyres) well maintained, well set up example that's biased towards your intended use. If that be trackdays, you'll have to be willing to accept the optimal track geo set up can make for a twitchy time on the road. If it's mainly road use with occasional track day outings, the optimal road set up will see your tyres wearing/overheating prematurely on track.
Yup Basalt. Might as well leave it dirty then.
On is it too extreme - depends on your frame of reference. It’s a step up in comfort for me from my C3.2 which is loud, hot, unassisted and in no way relaxing to travel in.
Honestly thus far I haven’t found it too bad, and actually it doesn’t have the tyre roar of my old 997 C2S which ruined that car a bit.

I had reservations about posting that image for THAT very reason I actually partially removed it rather deftly with a drying waffle ...
And then subsequently replaced it with a graphite coloured sticker to match the wheels :
It was much easier to keep clean/dry

Ah yes but have you been driving it to the max, yunno, flat out in every gear, bouncing off the rev limiter in every gear at every opportunity ? I mean, have you optimized the geometry to dial out the god awful arm aching understeer that plagues these cars, and slackened the anti roll bars off to reduce the horrendous bumpsteer ? Have you got the latest stickiest rubber fitted and adjusted to the nearest nano bar ? Is the diff tighter than a nun's crutch ?
If not, I'm really not convinced your qualified to comment at this juncture

That's a nice idea - more visible and it won't get microfibre cloth lint bits stuck in it.
You got it Of course to some contributors it just means the repair after the massive rear end shunt was done on the cheap by a cheapskate who wouldn't fork out for a genuine GT3 badge

If you're bouncing off the rev limiter down the lanes all the time. Maybe the gearing's to low and needs longer gearing
Well car manufacturers have come up with a remarkably simple fix for just that scenario, they suggest changing up a gear, but some find the very thought of doing that borderline offensive ... seemingly it's seen as a slight on your masculinity/sexuality if you don't drive around with the rev counter needle stuck at 8000 rpm (or more) whilst driving on the road, the majority of the time.Slippydiff said:

David, you dont need to wear sunscreen today ;-)is it true Slippy, that the only time you and 911R are seen together in is when one looks in the mirror?
