So if Copenhagen had more immigrants it would be a festering pit? Interesting view, Digga.

Seems to be what the Danes think; they want to tidy all the randomness and diversity away. Make of it what you will.

I'm certainly not advocating their actions, just merely observing. FWIW having worked with Danes, I knew this was how it would play out; they're both OCD and racist in equal measure.

They've not yet done it, according to the article, but they have certainly been coming out with extremely racist/far-right policies for a number of years now.

Which sadly appears to play well enough with those who vote for them to be able to maintain power.

With that said, they would appear to be on a collision course with the UCHR, and I imagine might be put on the naughty list along with Poland and Hungary.

Anyway, a very sad situation, and one that will only create further trouble.

It's not just Lindholm either, but also confiscation of valuables: https://theglobepost.com/2019/01/24/denmark-seizes...

I'm in Denmark frequently, the majority of people with whom I interact don't seem to be barking racists, but then maybe I'd have a very different experience if I wasn't a middle class white man.

I'm in engineering. The guys I was talking to ranged from CEO down to the sort of workshop managers. The wealthy, white, middle class were the worst IME. This could be a generational thing.

Had an English friend who lived in Copenhagen until recently who echoed my opinions.

My point is not about their immigration attitude, more about how countries like Denmark, Holland and Germany can thrive with EU. To be honest, U.K. is the most diverse and culturally rich place in the whole Europe. I'm not sure about Danes or dutch attitude to immigration. I really think talking about nationalities quite irrelevant in our age, people have been totally mixed since World War 2 in all over the world. It would be nearly impossible tell any specific business due to their national identity, I mean we do all ove porsches, like 993. Who is the legendary designer? It's Tony hatt (A Brit), not a German. If you guys look at many of these companies or associations workforce, they are multi-national. I have been to ESA (European Space in Agency) in Noordwick (Holland). their engineers are completely mixed of Italians, Dutch, Americans, British and etc...

When Obama took power in 2008, summoned all high-tech companies to dinner, to convince them to bring some of their business to U.S.A, mainly manufacturing and mostly focusing on Apple. Steve Jobs told him off nicely, and mentioned that, their companies aim is not to save U.S.A, but to produce and bring the best consumer electronics to everyone in the world. In a free market, most major global companies do have the same attitude, and I think Brexit in its essence blocking their (mostly British) competitiveness and unique edge.

From the Sunday Times:

Looks like it's going to go very smoothly, always good when the government is planning to suppress food riots with the army as a direct result of capitulating to populist lunatics.

But, £20k 964's, so as long as you have a couple of pallets of chickpeas, and your job is in no way reliant on the UK economy - it's all gravy.

At some point you are going to have to face reality, the sooner you do the lesser the shock is going to be.

Sunday Times is a baseless conspiracy theory organ?

And you're in engineering you say? Could you give us a career over-view so we know what to avoid travelling on/in/under?

Ladders, go round them not under. Especially if you're superstitious.

Its interesting how things can be taken out of perspective. The Lindholm idea was exactly that. That immigrants who have been refused entry should ideally be sent out of the country on the same day. But that doesn’t work for practical reasons, so they filter back into the community and go into hiding. This happens all over the place. In order to prevent that the idea with Lindholm was mentioned - but it was an idea put forward by a small populist fraction of government.
The thing about assessing peoples possesions before granting benefits is not confined to immigrants. It also applies to Danes who apply for benefits. Basically everyone is means tested before hand-out of benefits whether Dane or not. Denmark is a small open progressive society with a tendency to say things how they are. This has nothing to do with being racist and to compare Denmark with the likes of Poland and Hungary is downright absurd.

I'm usually quite critical and suspicious about any extremely bad "apocalyptic" scenarios after political situations. However, just spoke to a well-known scientist/researcher from cambridge applied maths today, in a small research event. They were quite worried about logistics and day to day needs, on the case of a no-deal Brexit. They usually model quite complex scenarios in London such as retail. coffee
