Collecting Cars should start auctioning watches. I image it’s the same audience.

I think it’s a lot for a car in an auction as you say but it’s a lot less than these cars were going for a few months ago !

Agree Cheib, you bought a few months back used you could easily be 50k behind looking at this trade car only making £260k

Edward Lovett off CC/International Collectibles fame bought a Black/Black Speedster from JZM during lockdown...and seems to have sold it after running it for a few months. From his social media posts he seemed to really like it....guess he didn’t fancy taking a hit over winter.

I think we will see further corrections in the car market over winter. Then who knows where we will end up

I agree on the gearbox in the 981/718 for sure, saps of the life from them and is a big issue, but as a life style item it's mega.

For me I'll keep the 987.2 Spyder, and in the GT3 range it's very personal but I own the best body shaped one :-p

it's a shame we have circa 20 Speedsers for sale for such a rare car, but there are about 60 GT4's for sale and 30 Spyders so no one wants these cars to drive and NO one now paying overs either. Why you cannot buy a new one at an OPC has to change soon, other wise OPC will shoot themselfs in the foot phoning VIP and asking if they want a GT4 and them saying "no chance", mosy GT4 I know of were VIP clients trying to make money !!!
now we have 30 718 up for sale NOT SHIFTING !!!

if you look at the Cayman R there is 1 car for sale in manual ! you don't have to spend £200k to have fun £40k provides all the fun you could ever want really and now one of the most sort after cars in the Porsche range.

The T as you know I'll never get as long as it costs more it is a daft buy, at list it's a choice(which few took up) at overs is just plain maddness.

But it's not over, the GT4 RS will be in high demand !!!

but the 991.1 RS is dead in the water as car sale now !!
I think you are spot on regarding the 718 GT4. I have tried a few dealers for a slot for the GT but no luck. Yet I can buy a used GT4 for close to or less than list already from OPC. Something does not make sense to me.
I think I 718 Spyder or GT4 with PDK could be a fantastic car
The GT4 Rs will be sold out and only available to those who have a "special relationship" with the OPC so that rules me out lol

911R - loads of 718 GT4’s at dealers not even advertised - add that to the 36 on AT and I bet there will be 60-80 really for sale - it’s brilliant now bottom line is you can buy any car with virtually no miles in any spec at list as a second owner - so pleased overs is over - would really like a return to normality smile

But would you buy a used one or a new one if you are still having to pay list for a used one?
Also what will happen to these depreciation wise as they are clearly not made in limited numbers?
Does that Mae the 981 GT4 a safer bet even though it is 5 years now

I'm really surprised the 981 GT4 is commanding such high prices, I thought they would have dropped loads more by now.

No idea are depreciation - I would guess the 981 is safer and also the performance gap between a 981 / 718 GT4 is smaller than the 981 / 718 Spyder. Also the sound of the 981 is good stock whereas you have to add a mod on the 718 to get a decent noise from it and these can cost up to £k6 !

These are new cars though - all teeny tiny milage - everyone panicking and getting out smile

They will as the 718 falls - I just think the fall will be less on a 981 than the 718 as the 718 starting point is so much higher.

A friend of mine had exactly this dilemma and went for the "used" car with 128 miles on it! He picked up the Miami car that was in Kent. Paid 95,750 for it which was a 7.5K saving over list (including showroom tax and front end ppf which he would have done anyway). Car had more on it than he would have specified as well. He ended up getting his deposit back from his opc. Made a great saving and didn't have to wait 3 months for a car which would have arrived in winter.

I'm trying to persuade him to upgrade the crown wheel and pinion. Car then becomes a very interesting proposition.

some one maths is wrong a 718 Cayman is not £103,250 !!!

A fully speced car is £89k sans PCCB !! £103.2k is going some which seems impossible! even with £1.5k PPF.

I specced one over £100k, it's possible. You'd need PCCBs, Clubsport, Crayon/Miami/Python paint and pretty much all possible options though including painted wheels, black calipers, BOSE, all leather with red or yellow stitching etc etc.

So not a saving as if you spec one your self you would not want the ALL options, like the OP said the buyer did not want the options on the car it had !

ok just done a stupid spec for £ 98,286.00 !! CS, carbon sills PCCBS etc. so still a bit of a way off £103.2k

My spec in Python and some exclusive bits ie LED lights, buckets, Carbon Bose etc etc £88,365.00 no PPCB but £ 93,962.00 with PCCB.

all well and good saying you saved £7.5k when the spec is daft and you don't want it, £96k is imho too much to pay for a 2nd hand Cayman !!

Not really the bargain when you can buy new now days on GT4,s if you ask about, but not spyders yet.

do it a few times as I always keep options open and did it today to post what the price was on a fully speced car with and without PCCB's.

Any one can do it live on Porsche website ;-)

I weigh up buying one with a good spec and throwing £10k at the gear box. my spec is £88k and that with most of that stuff you posted
leather, buckets, Led lights, custom race tex stuff, cruise, BOSE, Carbon, coloured belts, reverse camera, Python paint and some other bits !

Was just saying £103.250 is imo way way too much to spend on a Cayman and spec. but that's the good thing with options, when new you spec it how You want it, buying 2nd hand I don't want to PAY for all the tat options on a £103k car which was some one else choice.

I'll be looking at what I deem to be fully speced cars 2nd hand at £85k.
