All my cars are insured under NFU fleet policy which despite being good value doesn't provide track cover..I phoned Oulton a few days ago for advice on insurance and they said its voluntary, however due to the safe relaxed and strict environment he said insurance is not essential..
However i'm thinking i'll be tempting fate so might source some track insurance..Any thoughts from more experienced track guys.?

I'm with Chubb and they cover UK track days run by ATDO up to a value of £500k.

EU days I use Morris somewhere around £500 a day for 991RS @ £170k.

Personally wouldn't do a track day without cover.

This would be my first 'proper' track day in my own car, rather than at Porsche Silverstone or various events at Bedford, so I'll be taking it fairly easy. That doesn't mean that i won't get carried away, plus there is always the possibility of a mistake by someone else that affects you.

I've always had cover as part of my policy for UK track days, and always insured for EU events.

It may not be ones own mistake, a puncture, mechanical failure or another twist of fate.

Even if one can afford to lose the value of the car if the unthinkable happens, why would you take the risk, that's what insurance is for.
