997 Turbo S vs 2014 GTR
Discussion
I was in this position a few weeks ago.
Do I get another R35 GTR or a 997 turbo.
In the end decided to get the Porsche with the aero kit and RS Spyder wheels.
Never looked back and extremely happy with my choice.
However it all down to personal choice both fabulous cars.
The 997 turbo S is also marginally quicker that the GTR in std setup.
0-100 mph on 6.8 secs
The Porsche us also smaller which makes it far easier to drive along B roads, where you have to back off in the GTR due to the physical size of the car.
Whichever car you buy, you will love it.
www.gtr.co.uk is a great resource for everything GTR
www.911uk.com us a great resource for 911s

Well I made my decision yesterday, and the possible new GTR (too big, poor ride quality, nasty interior Mrs hated it) or M6 (too big, too heavy) has become a 997.2 Cab. Not the purists choice I know - but a great fun car when I don't have to drive the family wagon
Congrats, welcome to the club. You won't regret it, I certainly haven't.

Me too, also made my decision. 2011 997 TTS incoming.
Congrats, you certainly made the right choice.I made the same decision a few weeks ago and certainly haven't regretted if.
Was tempted by another GTR but so happy that I went for a 997.
Enjoy.

Went through the same thought process before getting 997T. Didn't actually drive a GTR but negatives for me ...
- they look so huge (and ugly)
- they look so heavy, though I guess they aren't given the power they have
- interior and playstation dash came across as chavvy
- depreciation
- missus thought they were ulgy, whereas 997 still has some of that original 911 beauty
- its still a datsun isn't it
To us car ownership is as much about the whole ownership experience rather than raw power, so that led us to 997T, but that's not to distract from how great I'm lead to believe the GRT is.

Couldn't have put it better. As a old Porsche advert once said "as a schoolboy, you didn't dream of owning a Datsun". - they look so huge (and ugly)

Can't wait now. Picking up next Saturday. For those interested am picking up the GT Silver car from the classifieds with 20k miles. Has a really nice spec. Have owned 2 Porsches before and every time I sell them for something else I keep coming back to them.

Fair enough but suggest driving one properly- they look so huge (and ugly)

I've got two porsches and a Gtr right now
And can happily tell you that you are wrong
The ownership experience has been superb on the GTR
Equalling any of the 10 Porsches I've owned in my life
Ironically the GTR is quirky and mechanical in a way that Porsches owners
Would appreciate if they could see past a badge
But then again that's why some people buys Porsches I suppose

Lol - not sure you can tell someone their opinion is wrong?Buying these type of cars is as much about the intangibles of ownership as it is about the nuts and bolts of the vehicle.
I made the same decision as the GTR just didn't do it for me in the same way as the porsche did - it just didn't feel special and left me a bit cold. Great car, just not for me.
