Buying my first 911 - A choice of two, please help

But I would say this, don't be totally swayed by the 991 over the Cayman. The Cayman is probably more fun to drive and the interior is virtually the same ( a bit cheeky of Porsche IMHO considering the price difference). The only reason I have a 991 is that I need the back seats for the dog!! The Cayman is an awesome car, so if it were more suitable for me I'd be in one of those...
Another quick question / piece of mind.
I currently own a VW Golf R, 2.0L V4 engine, 295 bhp... If I decided to go with the 'non S' based on price and Style, do you think I would be dissapointed with its performance? I did drive the S but didnt open it up in the slightest. I rarely even drive my car beyond 3k RPM
Isnt it funny how things spiral out of control and you keep asking yourself 'is this going to be enough'... Especially when I was considering a 2.7 Cayman initially, not I 'need' a 400bhp engine

I like being reassured I guess. I love having power on tap, but to be honest 300 bhp is enough for me. I am probably a little too scared of thrashing it around local roads... and will never ever take it on a track as rather wreck someone else's 911 than my own.I have a manual Golf R too, I assume I will notice a fair performance increase between that and a PDF Carrera?

er OK, buy a 2.7 Cayman and save a packet then - and are you sure you are on the right website? I currently own a VW Golf R, 2.0L V4 engine, 295 bhp... Ok, I had a similar recent car history. My previous car was a BMW m135i (similar to Golf R).
The power delivery is very different, the m135i and Golf R are turbo charged so the thrust below 3k rpm is very different from a naturally aspirated Porsche 3.6. I think the torque is more important in this case. You'll have to drive a Porsche harder for the same performance...
Not meaning to piss on your parade, BUT, I definitely would not buy a NON S for any more then £60k....

Ha yes. I just love the 991 shape. Imo it's the best looking car around. Cayman is a super car but I just prefer the 911 by quite a long way and although it's 15k more than a well specced Cayman S it'll obviously be worth more and the other end. jackliebling said:

OK point noted. For me it's not just performance. If you can find me a nice PDK standard Carrera for under 60k let me know... they are not easy to find. A few low spec higher mileage ones around but not much else. Although there was a black carrera manual with 40k miles for 56k at porsche reading. No extras other than Nav and Sports Exhaust
Do you NEED rear seats?
Why not buy the nicer looking (imo), better handling, 981 Cayman AND a 981 Boxster too, for your £65k?
OR, buy a 997 and drive an arguably better car with cash to spare?
